Job Description Head Swim and Dive Coach (Girls) JOB TITLE: Head Swim and Dive Coach (Girls) WAGE/HOUR STATUS: REPORTS TO: Director of Extracurricular Activities TERMS: DEPARTMENT: High School PAY GRADE: Exempt 187 Days Teacher Pay Schedule PRIMARY PURPOSE: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Extracurricular Activities and the general supervision of the building principal, the swim and dive coach organizes, coordinates, and promotes a comprehensive program of swim and dive instruction that is designed to meet the needs and interest of the school community. Additionally, the swim and dive coach coordinates swim and dive programs in the district. QUALIFICATIONS: Minimum Education/Certification: Bachelor’s Degree from an Accredited College or University Valid Texas Teacher Certification Appropriate for Assignment Meet the “Highly Qualified” Requirement Under NCLB Standards Specific Knowledge of Subject Assigned General Knowledge of Curriculum and Instruction At Least One Year of Field Experience (Student Teaching) or Approved Internship Minimum Experience: Minimum to years experience as a head coach and teacher. Strong communications, public relations and interpersonal skills. Strong problem solving skills. Special Knowledge and Skills: Meet the “Highly Qualified” requirement under NCLB standards. Specific knowledge of subject assigned. General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Page 1 of 3 Job Description Head Swim and Dive Coach (Girls) MAJOR RESPONSIBILITITES AND DUTIES: 1. Plan, organize, and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning of the game. 2. Ensure safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions. 3. Plan and coordinate swim and dive schedules and in preparing weekly game reports. 4. Conduct weekly grade checks on all swim team members. 5. Plan and coordinate swim and dive awards banquets, etc. 6. Comply with district policies, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. 7. Adhere to the district’s safety policies and procedures. 8. Maintain confidentiality in the conduct of district business. 9. Must be able to perform the essential functions of walking and interacting with students and/or district employees in the specific work site assigned (classroom or office setting). 10. Demonstrate regular and prompt attendance. 11. Other duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS: Mental Demands: Reading, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); maintain emotional control under stress; coordinate district-wide curriculum functions; interpret policy, procedures, and data. Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer terminal possible. Occasional districtwide travel. Occasional statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Must be able to lift 25 to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
