JOB DESCRIPTION: 1.0 2.0 JOB SUMMARY: 1.1 To exercise the highest possible standard of patient care according to his clinical privileges and available resources. 1.2 To participate in the training and teaching programme of the hospital. 1.3 To actively participate in the Directorate and Programme-wide clinical and management activities. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 2.1 Abides by the Medical Staff Bylaws, Code of Medical ethics, Rules and regulations of the Medical Staff and those specific to the department/division. 2.2 Provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible. 2.3 Carries out full range of inpatient and outpatient clinical duties as assigned by the director/head of department and the Consultant Cardiac Surgeon in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges. 2.4 Participates in the on-call duties as required by the department/division. 2.5 Teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the director/head of the department and the Consultant in planning a programme of career development for trainees. 2.6 Participate in the improvement of quality of patient care (CQI & PS Programme, Quality Assessment Improvement Programme) as applicable. No: Date of Issue: Issue: Page: DEPARTMENT: Medical JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: CAR/MED/J 007 07/01/2012 1 2 of 3 Senior Registrar Cardiac Surgery Job Description: (Con’d.) 3.0 2.7 Fulfills the requirements of the Saudi Council for Health Specialities with regard to continuing medical education. 2.8 To acquire and maintain a valid certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) 2.9 Participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects. 2.10 Deputizes for the Consultant Cardiac Surgeon as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues. 2.11 Strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness. 2.12 Participate in the Major Disaster Plan of the hospital, as indicated. 2.13 Performs other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities, within the hospital and/or affiliated medical facitlities.
