Sample of comments from the feedback tool:
“I could NOT live without our MET team!!!!! They are life support (no pun intended) to floor nurses who
are not ICU trained. I personally had 6 other pt's to attend to when I picked up this pt and I am afraid of
either what could have happened to him or my other pts' if the MET RN wasn't here. Please give them
raises & give us more of these guys!!!” – A. W., RN 8/7/10
“Again, another amazing response to prevent what was quickly becoming a code situation.” – Acute Care
RN 2/4/10
“The MET team is always professional and skilled. It is also very supportive towards staff. It is a
wonderful resource. Thank you.” – Acute Care RN 8/2/10
[The competence of 10 had a "+" next to it – jbm] “With the night and the acuity of my pt load the support
was overwhelming. I started out @1930 with a pt seizing and falling on the floor. [MET nurse] took pt to
CT and ensured that she was stable before returning. My other pt was really an ICU pt and required q1hr
NIH/VS + monitoring. She declined and without [MET nurse’s] help I would not have been able to provide
the level of care that she and my other pts deserved and required. -- Outstanding!” – M. D., RN 4/24/10.
“Great Job! I had 2 diff. pts. Going bad at the same time + it was very nice to have a very competent
MET RN with my other pt. MET Team Rocks!” – L. S. RN, 5/10/10
“[MET nurse] is a highly-skilled critical care nurse with expansive first-responder experience. With this
background, his assessment skills are finely and expertly developed. His in-depth understanding and
command of the care delivery system enables him to act quickly and efficiently based on his clinical
assessment. He utilizes a well-developed knowledge of clinical resources within the health care system to
bring appropriate levels of care to the patients he assesses as a MET nurse.” – R. M., RN; NP 4/7/10
“Could not have asked for more!! [MET nurse] was cheerful, willing to do anything that was needed and
helped keep the mood in the room upbeat. He asked questions and made suggestions in a very nonthreatening way. Even though he got called away, he spoke w/ the MD and had a plan in place "just in
case." I am appreciative and grateful for this awesome service. I know the patient is the most important
person in the room but it sure made me, the nurse, feel just as important. Thanks!” - G. E., RN 4/1/10
*Our program collected feedback from the primary bedside nurse each event. We collected this
information for the first fifteen months of the program. We literally have hundreds and hundreds
of comments like these from nurses, physicians, and other professionals.
