RECYCLE NORTH INCLUDES BUILDING MATERIALS TO LIST OF FREE PICK-
UPS
In January, ReCycle North suspended pick-up fees on donated furniture between the months of January and April, in an effort to increase donations of much needed furniture and other household items to the agency’s household goods store. The nonprofit agency has now added building materials to the list of items they will pick-up for free in Chittenden County. These items will help supply materials to
ReCycle North’s Building Material Center, located at 339 Pine Street.
Free pick-ups are limited to Chittenden County and can be scheduled Monday through
Friday. Building materials that qualify for free pick-up include: Plywood, Full kitchen cabinet sets, Hard wood flooring, Entry doors, Windows (both single and double pane), Interior doors (solid wood only), Bi-fold doors, Cabinets, Light fixtures, Ceramic tiles (clean), Door knobs & hinges, Toilets (white 1.6 gallon low flow flush), Countertops, Furnaces, Hot water tanks, Wood trim (clean, no nails), and
Window shutters (interior and exterior)
ReCycle North’s Building Material Reuse Enterprise consists of the Building Material
Center, Deconstruction Service, and
Waste-Not-Products. Founded in 2001, ReCycle North’s Building Material Reuse
Enterprise addresses the 25 to 40 percent of the U.S. waste stream that is construction and demolition debris. In 2008, through deconstruction and community partner donations, the Building Material Center sold or donated more than 263 sinks,
317 light fixtures, 335 windows, 560 doors, and 48,681 linear feet of lumber.
