Lighthouse Registration process
Whilst parents and children are in the queue, make sure every child has:
- a lanyard, 50p donation
- has suncream on if hot
- waterproof coat if wet
- lunchbox, if staying all day
On Mondays only, parents are allowed on site with their children. Any other
day if a parent needs to come on site to speak to a LHK or AGL then they
must be accompanied by a lamplighter. That lamplighter must ensure that
they escort the parent offsite again once they have finished whatever they are
doing. Parents must not be left unescorted on site. You will need to remind
the lamplighters of this whenever you hand a parent over to them.
Any medical information, medicines etc send to the nurse’s desk in the
registration tent.
Any queries parents have or messages they want passed on please send
them to the queries desk in the registration tent, do not hold up the
registration queue to deal with any issues.
When a child arrives with their entrance ticket and with their badge:
Check that the entrance ticket:
- is for the right site
- is for the right day
- is an Entrance ticket not a collection ticket
- the details on the ticket match the child’s badge
If everything checks out drop the collection ticket in the bucket and send the
child through to a lamplighter.
If a child has their badge but no entrance/collection ticket
Write out a replacement entrance/collection ticket, ensuring the child’s full
name and number is on the ticket and make sure the entrance ticket goes into
the bucket.
If a child arrives without a badge but has entrance/collection ticket
Write out a new badge including the child’s year group and number
If a child arrives without a badge and without tickets
There is a possibility the parent is trying to blag their child into lighthouse.
Look up the child’s details on the database printout. If the child’s name is on
the database ask the parent some security questions e.g. date of birth, post
code, mobile phone number. If the parent can answer the questions then it
must be a genuine case of lost badge and tickets.
If the child’s name is not on the database printout then that child will not be
allowed on site. They cannot have received a badge or any tickets and will
therefore know that they are not entitled to be on site and are just trying to
blag their way in. Stay firm it is an absolute NO!
