THE RECYCLING OF BIO-DEGRADABLE CUPS Save a Cup has developed a network of Industrial Composters to recycle the Biodegradable paper cups. Before a client can use the scheme they are required to use Bio-degradable paper cups plus collection bins and sacks available from Save a Cup and register with us. The Bio-degradable cups need to be collected in Save a Cup’s special compostable sacks, which are manufactured from POTATO STARCH. Once the sacks of cups have been collected from site by Save a Cup they are delivered directly to a COMPOSTING FACILITY where the sacks of cups are blended in with the other GREEN WASTE. After going through the composting process (approximately SIX weeks) the result is compost which meets the PAS 100 standard. The compost produced is used in a number of Processes such as spread on agricultural land, land capping etc Why a ZERO TOLERANCE on contamination is enforced When Save a Cup collects the sacks of Biodegradable cups from site. The sacks are scrutinised by the driver and if ANY contamination Is found the sacks will be left. The picture opposite shows how the standard paper cup DOES NOT Bio-degrade THE FLOW PATH
