Whitney Burris Earth Science 2010 Lab Demonstration Dr. Murry Making Conglomerate Rock Objective: To demonstrate how conglomerate rock is made. Materials: Shoe box Plastic garbage bag Paper cups Sandwich bags Dry cement Dry sand Water Rocks Steps: 1. Line the shoe box with plastic. 2. Add one cup of dry cement, one cup of dry sand, and one cup of cold water. Mix thoroughly. 3. Add rocks to the mixture and mix again. 4. Line the small cups with the sandwich bags and pour the mixture. 5. Place the cups in a warm area (i.e. a kitchen cabinet) until the mixture is dry. 6. Once the mixture is dry you have created a conglomerate rock! Describe the texture of the rock.
