Engagement Department Engagement is one of the three strategic pillars that underpin the Company’s mission and vision. The department promotes wider and deeper public engagement with the Company and the art form through its three distinct strategic programmes: Creative Learning, Developing Talent and Public Engagement. Placing ENB’s repertory at the heart of everything we do, we deliver world-class programmes, commission ground-breaking research, forge inspirational partnerships, develop choreographic talent and produce performances, public participatory events, community and family focused initiatives, throughout London and on tour nationally and internationally to extend our reach. The Engagement programme currently reaches just under 50,000 people per annum. Who you are This is an exciting moment in ENB’s history and, as Engagement Manager, you will play an important role in contributing to the ambitions of the Engagement Department delivered through three strategic programme areas: Creative Learning, Public Engagement and Developing Talent. Purpose of post To provide high level administration, communication and systems management to facilitate the effective running of the Engagement Department. The post will play a key role in developing systems and processes to enhance the efficiency of the Engagement Department and reports directly to the Engagement Director. The Engagement Manager will be proactive and resourceful, with excellent financial management skills and an enterprising attitude for commercial ventures. Administration Review, develop and improve administrative systems to maximise the effectiveness of the department Review, develop and maintain all filing and recording systems (physical and computer based) Maintain and update the client database and liaise with other departments as required Record, manage and collate statistics for reports etc. Prepare financial and statistical reports Prepare financial modelling for commercial enterprises Responsible for all financial systems, processing and trouble-shooting and for keeping the overall Engagement budget on track Organise couriers, travel, accommodation etc. across the department’s activities Order and monitor ticket allocations in liaison with the Engagement and Marketing teams Record and disseminate minutes of meetings Set up systems and processes and regularly review on-line sales / events bookings in liaison with Engagement and Marketing teams Provide administrative and financial support across the department’s programme of activities Operations Contribute to the development of new, and build on existing, commercial programmes in liaison with the Engagement Director and Finance Director Responsible for operational and office management issues e.g. venue accessibility, health and safety issues and staff inductions Responsible for the regular reviewing and updating of the Engagement schedule, ensuring its circulation Responsible for office management issues such as venue accessibility and staff induction Finance and Legal Responsible for all aspects of day to day financial management and ensuring that departmental budgets are up to date Responsible for the preparation of contracts and confirmation letters across the department’s programme of activities Responsible for ensuring that all DBS requirements are met by the department and to liaise with HR as required Communication Responsible for delivery of effective communication between the Engagement team and other departments is delivered and effective (e.g. attendance at key Engagement events; timely Marketing and Press requirements) Distribution of publicity material and dissemination of information, as required PA and diary management function for the Engagement Director Advocacy Commit to providing the highest level of customer service and actively seek to promote equality of opportunity Act as an effective advocate for English National Ballet and Engagement Department Represent the Company at appropriate London, regional, national and international events, conferences and networks Personnel Manage freelance artists, volunteers, contractors and placements, as and when required Work with an understanding of English National Ballet’s equal opportunities policy at all times Participate in the provision and maintenance of the safe working environment adhering to the company’s Health and Safety policies at all times This job description is a guide to the nature of the work required of the prospective employee and does not form part of the contract of employment. Professional Qualifications / Relevant Experience Educated to degree level or equivalent (preferably in an arts subject) Professional experience working in a dance organisation/arts organisation Highly competent IT skills: Microsoft Office user, database and other technology Business skills Excellent organisational and administrative skills Strong negotiation skills, problem-solver Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across the Company internally and externally with stakeholders and participant groups Strong numeracy skills and financial management Ability to work under pressure, prioritise and manage a busy workload with high productivity Entrepreneurial flair for generating income from commercially driven programmes Personal skills Can-do attitude Committed to widening access to dance and promoting inclusivity and diversity A good team player Self-motivated with great attention to detail Employs discretion, as appropriate Able to work on own initiative and equally work effectively as a collaborator and team player A good knowledge of, and keen interest, in dance A good understanding of the season cycle of a national touring dance company An understanding of Duty of Care when working with children, young people and vulnerable adults TERMS AND CONDITIONS Salary: £22-25k per annum, depending upon experience Hours of working: Normal office hours are 10am – 6pm Mon-Fri. Evening and weekend work will occasionally be required for which no additional pay will be available. Normal place of work: English National Ballet, Markova House, Jays Mews, London though additional working may be required away from the office by attending events and venues in London and the regions.
