GLOVER RECYCLING CENTER These materials can be recycled in Glover. They must be sorted into the groups listed here. Please sort materials at home to save time and space at the Recycling Center. All materials must be reasonably clean - not washed with soap, but rinsed clean. SATURDAY 9AM to NOON (December through March 1st & 3rd Saturday ONLY) NEWSPAPERS, MAGAZINES, OFFICE PAPER, JUNK MAIL: Can be mixed together - Includes catalogs, telephone books, glossy inserts and paperback books as well as colored paper, white paper, wrapping paper and junk mail. Any color or type of paper can be in this category except brown Kraft paper bags and boxboard (see next category), no paper with metal foil. CORRUGATED CARDBOARD & BROWN KRAFT PAPER BAGS & BOXBOARD: NO wax-coated cardboard or cardboard soiled with food (pizza boxes, for example). Remove excess tape. Staples and some tape are OK. Please Flatten Boxes - no strings, plastic handles, or bags with plastic layers. TIN CANS: Labels are OK. Flattening not required, please rinse. Separate from aluminum cans (A magnet will stick to tin but not to aluminum). ALUMINUM CANS, FOIL AND FOOD TRAYS: Labels OK. Flattening not required, please rinse. Silver plastic snack bags and candy wrappers are plastic, not aluminum foil and not recyclable. GLASS (ALL COLORS): Clear, green, blue, and amber bottles and jars. Please rinse. Window glass, mirror, Pyrex, drinking glasses and ceramics are acceptable. NO crystal, no lids (plastic, metal or wood). NO light bulbs. All fluorescent bulbs are recyclable in a separate category. #1, #2 & #4 plastic containers: 2 gallon size maximum. Look for the recycling number and triangle stamped on the container. PLEASE RINSE CLEAN. Labels are OK. Automotive product containers are acceptable as long as they are completely drained of fluid. No vinyl siding, NO STYROFOAM (even if it has a number), no syringes or medical devices. PLASTIC BAGS: Any plastic bag that is labeled #2 or #4. ELECTRONICS: Computers, Televisions, Radios, Cable converter boxes, Scanners, DVD players, Answering machines, Fax machines, VCRs, Video game systems, Cordless phones, Stereo components (receiver, tape deck, amplifier, CD player, equalizers). GLOVER ALSO ACCEPTS: Aerosol cans, All-White Bale Wrap (small quantities only, large quantities go direct to Lyndonville), Automotive Batteries, Cell Phones, Fluorescent Bulbs - all types, Hard covered Books, Lead fishing sinkers, Mercury Containing Devices (thermostats, thermometers, etc), Used Oil, Oil Filters, Printer Cartridges, Rechargeable Batteries, Single Use Alkaline Batteries, & Scrap Metal. Glover is now a member of the Northeast Kingdom Waste Management District Propane Tanks &Tires are collected year round in Lyndonville, fees apply for tires. CLOTHING AND TEXTILES – Drop and Swaps are held in the spring and fall in Derby. HOUSHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE – BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, Monday -Friday, June through the end of September in Lyndonville, and special events throughout the District, June through September. Fees apply for business wastes. Call for details: 626-3532 Lyndonville Recycling is open to residents of all NEKWMD Towns 224 Church Street Wednesday 8am – 4pm & Saturday 8am – 3pm On the web at www.nekwmd.org, e-mail progmgr@nekwmd.org Universal Recycling Law – Act 148 As of July 1, 2015 the following recyclables will be banned from landfills in Vermont: - Aluminum & Steel Cans - Aluminum Foil & Pie Pans - Glass Bottles & Jars from Food & Beverages - Plastic Bottles, Jugs & Tubs marked #1, & #2 - Corrugated Cardboard - White & Colored Paper - Newspaper, Magazines, Catalogs, Junk Mail, Paper Envelopes - Boxboard (grey, non-corrugated cardboard like cereal boxes) These are the mandated recyclables Glover Recycling accepts these and other recyclable materials. If you are already recycling the above materials in Glover, you don’t have to change anything when the new requirements take effect July 1st. If you are not already recycling the above materials, please read the other side of this sheet for instructions on sorting recyclables and the hours of operation for the Glover Recycling Center. Stop by the Recycling Center on Saturday morning so you can see how it is done. Recycling is not difficult. Recyclable materials have value – they can be used again to manufacture products with recycled content reducing the waste of virgin materials and reducing the energy used in manufacturing new materials. THERE IS NO CHARGE FOR RECYCLING IN GLOVER! TRASH COLLECTION AT GLOVER RECYCLING Sometime after July 1st, the Glover Recycling Center may be accepting bagged trash on a pay-per-bag basis. Cost will depend on the size of the bag. Rates to be announced. We are waiting to see how the trash haulers who serve Glover respond to the new law. If there is enough demand from Glover residents, we will arrange for a dumpster at Glover Recycling.
