1 Surrealism has always inspired me. It is always changing, has many different forms and
moods, and is always full of surprises. It is an illogical movement, which is great because
there is a lot one can do with that.
2 Favourite surrealist is Dali. I am inspired by how he created illogical scenes with
photographic precision. I love his use of the woman’s body and the movement in his
paitings, along with the drapery, colours and objects he chose to use. Its a great platform
for pattern design

4 Mary Katrantzou
Originally wanted to study architecture in America, but transferred to St Martins where she
studied print design. After opening for the St Martins graduation show, her collection was
nominated for harrods
5 She was then sponsered to do do six seasons in London’s Fashion Weeks to come,
which launched her career. Her concepts are based on objects of art, which was inspired
by surrealism. She manipulates her prints to emphasise a womans best features.
6 She combines elements of the 18th century portaiture, nature and architecture. Her
patterns consist of images being blown up and scaled down, giving them flattering
contours and interesting colour combinations.
7 She wants her work to be colourful, light, and above all, flattering to womens bodies.
Like many designers, Mary aims to empower women. It has always been very important
to create shapes that show a signature style.
8 She also wanted to make her designs accessable to the public, by selling clothing at a
price that people can afford. One can find her designs in Topshop and other online stores.
9 Falguni and Shane Peacock
Both born and raised in Mumbai, Shane studied engineering and Falguni studied art. They
both started the very luxurious brand in 2002, by specializing in custom made garments.
Later that year, they launched their brand and sold their designs in designer stores around
india.
10 The brand carries their signature use of feathers, sequence and prints. They want to
empower woman by making their garments intriguing by adding contrasting elements like
fragility and strength and tradition and modernity.
11 The peacock philosophy believes that life is too short to blend in. They love the idea of
elegance and intricacy. The continuous theme is rock n roll combined with glamour. The
transition between chic and edgy.
12 Falguni and shane gather inspiration from travelling and books. They always make
sure to surround themselves with new places and different cultures. They also use their
indian roots to throw tradition into their garments
13 Their prints are designed by blowing photographs up and focusing on small details
within those photographs to accucentuate. They then add vectors and interesting filters to
their prints which will later be embelished
14 Peter Pilotto
Peter Pilotto started the brand first and Chris De Vos joined soon afterwards, but the name
still remained as it was catchy. They met in 2000 in Antwerp. Their contransting
upbringing, had invested the pair with a love of fashion and clothing.
15 They take inspiration from the natural and scientific world, and an image from 1830
where a scientist is seen wearing all of his mineral discoveries. Pilotto works mainly on
prints and texitles, while De Vos concentrates on sihouettes and drapery of the garments
16 The pair travel a lot to and use escapism as passage of inspiration. Many of their prints
are made from interesting blown up photos they have taken on trips abroad. They
combine there interest in nature with 50s haute couture.
17 This compilation of ideas creates very flattering garments. Their prints are colourful
and bold, and their natural prints are very stylized. They want to empower woman by
creating flattering silhouettes and emphasising all the best parts of the body.
18 Some of the collections has been inspired by the Art Deco deco movement which is
very modern. They want to instill playfulness and fun into the garments. The combination
of geometric shapes and natural images has been a great success within markets today.
19 The forecast on WGSN and other websites says that the colours for 2015 will be pinks,
purples and blues combined with black and white. There will be a combination of colours
that pop and pastals
