Mythology Project Rubric
Due Date: Wednesday, January 15
Hooray! Let us honor the GREEK GODS with sacrifices of time, construction
paper, glue sticks and various other materials in the grand pursuit of knowledge
and a good grade.
Video option: design a modern day version of a myth we have read. Or write a new
myth that features the interaction or interference of one or more gods. Content must be
school appropriate (of course) and a minimum of five minutes in length. Turn in a typed
version of script with video.

Game option: design a board game that demonstrates knowledge of one or more Greek
myths. Game can be based on a current existing game, or it can be totally made up. If
you’d like to make a version of Jeopardy, I can email an existing one to you so you can
use the template.

Essay Option: For the traditionalist! Write an essay that examines one of the moral
lessons found in Mythology (i.e. hubris) and ties it to one or more myths as well as
contemporary times. Paper must be at least 2 pages in length (Times New Roman, 12
font, double spaced), include at least 2 parenthetical citations and a works cited.

Scrapbooking Option: Design a scrapbook of mythological references in the world
today. Your scrapbook should have at least ten entries with explanation. A sample entry
might include: a picture of the FTD logo featuring Hermes and a written explanation of
why he is a fitting symbol for the company. Make your scrapbook look nice!

Movie Reviews: Select two films based on Greek Mythology, view them and write a
film review for each. Each review should be a minimum of one page (Times New
Roman, 12 font, double spaced), and should critique how accurately the film portrayed
the actual myth or events, film craft (how well did they make the film, including set
design, special effects, casting, pacing, etc), and entertainment value. Your reviews
should include a works cited for the films. Yes, you may use Troy as one of your films.
