The following amendment, questions and answers are being published regarding Request for Bid (RFB) RME
1435, Panel and Upholstery Fabric.
Amendment 1:
Definition on page 3 is being amended, as noted:
“LPF” is being changed to “Lbf” or “lbf”. Pounds per foot (Tensile Strength)
Amendment 2:
The due date for this bid is being changed to: July 30, 2008. The time remains the same: 1:30 PM CT.
Amendment 3:
Sections 4.1.1 and 4.1.2 are being amended, as noted:

Questions & Answers
Question:
Can we only bid on the 4.1.2, 54” upholstery fabric?
Answer:
Vendors may bid on as many items as they choose.
Question:
Can a fabric color card be used as a bid submission or is a specific size sample required?
Answer:
Color cards or samples, regardless of size are not required, nor will they be accepted as a legitimate bid submittal.
Any fabrics offered to BCE as a result of this Request for Bid (RFB) must be listed, in accordance with the
instructions noted on the Cost Price Sheets, located at the end of the RFB document.
Question:
We could submit our entire fabric line as all the fabric fall within your parameters. Can you narrow this down for
us?
Answer:
Vendors are requested to submit as many patterns of fabric as they choose to offer for sale to BCE.
It is the intent of BCE, as a result of this bid: to be able to offer its customers the most complete line
of upholstery and panel fabrics and vinyl fabrics; as possible.
Question:
Do you want crypton fabrics?
Answer:
Yes. It is the intent of BCE, as a result of this bid: to be able to offer its customers the most complete
line of upholstery and panel fabrics and vinyl fabrics; as possible.
Question:
Do you want fabrics in a certain price range or not to exceed a certain dollar amount?
Answer:
No. All price ranges of fabric can be submitted.
Question:
Do you want a certain number of fabrics?
Answer:
No. It is the intent of BCE, as a result of this bid: to be able to offer its customers the most complete
line of upholstery and panel fabrics and vinyl fabrics; as possible.
Panel Fabrics
Question:
Why are you requiring a minimum for surface abrasion?
Answer:
The minimum surface abrasion standard is being established as periodically customers require panel
fabrics to be used in upholstered seating product applications.
Question:
Why are you requiring CAL 117?
Answer:
The CAL 117 standard is being established as periodically customers require panel fabrics to be used
in upholstered seating product applications. The bid specifications have been amended to reference
both the CAL 117 specification and/or the ASTM E084 specification. Refer to the Amendment 3.
Question:
Why are you requiring a minimum tensile strength?
Answer:
This reference is being re-worded to: “Breaking (tensile) strength”. Refer to Amendment 3.
Upholstery Fabrics
Question:
Why are you requiring ASTM E84?
Answer:
The reference to this standard is being deleted from this specification.
Question:
Why are your requiring a minimum tensile strength?
Answer:
This reference is being re-worded to: “Breaking (tensile) strength”. Refer to Amendment 3.
