Professional Experience
PEDIATRIC CRITICAL CARE NURSING: STAFF NURSE
Provided care for critically ill and medically complex neonates and children in a Level I Pediatric
Intensive Care Unit, including post-op open heart patients, liver transplant, hem/onc, and trauma
patients.

Assumed leadership roles and charge nurse responsibilities including; staffing, conflict resolution,
liaison and mentor.

Educated and mentored new nurses and assisted with their integration into the Pediatric ICU.

Provided extensive family and patient education from admission through discharge to home;
worked with social services and home health agencies to coordinate complex care.

Attended and presented at nursing continuing education programs. Attended critical care
conferences to gain access to latest knowledge and trends in Pediatric Intensive Care nursing.

NEONATAL CRITICAL CARE NURSING: STAFF NURSE
Provided care for critically ill and premature neonates in Level II and Level III Neonatal Intensive
Care Units.

Provided extensive and complex patient education for families from admission until discharge. This
included coordinating with social services for children with special needs, working with discharge
coordinator to ensure a seamless transition for families from hospital to home life.

Attended critical care conferences to gain access to latest knowledge and trends in Neonatal
Intensive Care nursing.

HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY RESEARCH NURSING:
RESEARCH NURSE ASSOCIATE HEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY ABMT

Research trial coordinator whose responsibilities included assessing and enrolling patients with
stage IV breast cancer or lymphoma in Autologous Bone Marrow Clinical Trials.


PEDIATRIC NEUROSURGERY CLINICAL NURSING:
CLINICAL NURSE ASSOCIATE

Responsible for communicating with and acting as primary liaison for physicians in outlying
hospitals, and triaging patients coming to the University of Chicago for Neurosurgical issues,
primarily pediatric neurological tumors and hydrocephalus. On call 24/7 for patient triage and
communication to Pediatric Neurosurgeon, Neurosurgery Fellow and residents.

Clinical responsibilities included coordinating patient care in the clinic, preforming neurological
assessment of patients, ordering lab work and scans prior to and after surgery, acting as a liaison
with insurance providers, scheduling surgeries and booking OR time for physician.

Research responsibilities included collecting samples of medulloblastoma tumors in OR for study
and acting as liaison with research lab staff.

Extensive patient and family education, working with staff nurses and discharge coordinator to
facilitate smooth transition from hospital to home, including coordinating follow up care for
complex patients.
PEDIATRIC GI CLINICAL NURSING:
CLINICAL NURSE SPECIALIST

Clinical responsibilities included coordinating and providing patient care in the clinic, preforming
patient. Assessments and coordinating lab work, surgeries, procedures and tests as needed.
Responsible for phone triage of pediatric GI patients and acting as liaison to physician in executing
a plan of care.

Extensive patient and family education for patients with Chron’s Disease, as well as patients with
encopresis. Responsible for creating individualized care plans for patients with encopresis.

Coordinated and conducted support group for patients with Chron’s Disease on a biweekly basis.

Work with the hospital staff to facilitate a transition from hospital care to home for patients with
short-gut syndrome and Chron’s Disease.
