Description of content: The main text makes provisions for Application for a Compliance
certificate before importing any of the above-mentioned products into Botswana. It further
provides for recognition of compliance certificates from country of origin from a recognised
body. Non-compliance to the regulation constitutes an offence punishable by Law. It also
provides an appeals procedure in case of grievances. It gives the list of the regulated products
together with the applicable standards. Please for more information see the regulations.

Objective and rationale, including the nature of urgent problems where applicable: The
objective is to control quality of the prescribed goods when imported into Botswana. The
purpose is to protect the consumer against adverse health effects that can be caused by
consumption of substandard goods. Consumers here include both human beings and animals.
