Reaching out to Park Circle
Dale Moore is not your typical Community Sales Manager. Although Moore fulfills this
professional capacity for Carolina One Real Estate, he believes that selling Hunley
Waters is just a small facet of his role at the community.
“Truly, I believe that, in order to sell a community, you must believe in the people who
live there,” explains Moore. “North Charleston is a special place that is continually
reinventing itself after the 1996 closure of the Charleston Naval Base. Residents could
have easily given up, but they haven’t. The community is one of the great comeback
stories in the United States, even with the recessionary economy.”
Citing examples, Moore pointed to recent national honors, like the National League of
Cities in 2010, and the Home Depot Award of Excellence for North Charleston in 2009.
“Recent listings by magazines like Bloomberg Business Week, and Men’s Journal,
naming North Charleston as one of the nation’s ‘coolest neighborhoods’ have put Park
Circle on the national map,” adds Moore.
Increasingly, North Charleston’s rebounding neighborhoods, accentuated by unique,
sustainable neighborhoods like Hunley Waters, are luring creative professionals, software
engineers, architects, designers and other white collar professionals. This remarkable
development is noteworthy for a City that was always deemed “blue collar” for its role
with the former naval base. “That’s the people that we are looking to at Hunley Waters –
this is about building a community, a special place, not just selling homes,” adds Moore.
The demographic trends in the region point to this transformation. A recent study by the
Brookings Institution indicates that the Charleston-North Charleston corridor has gained
more college graduates in terms of percentage over the past decade, with a total of
31.9 % of the population holding at least a Bachelor’s Degree.
The Wall Street Journal analysis of this trend indicates that the Charleston metro region is
now poised to become one of the leading areas for the creative economy once the global
recession subsides. Simply, more skilled workers and entrepreneurs, and the common
wisdom persists that more companies like Boeing will find their way to the Lowcountry.
Moore sees his role increasingly as a community advocate for North Charleston. He now
serves on the Charleston Trident Area Realtor Legislative Committee and Code Read,
which is synonym for the professional organization’s Ethics Committee. At Carolina
One, Moore is a member of the Carolina One New Homes Advisory Council.
Other professional designations that bring him closer to North Charleston are the
Charleston Trident Home Builders Association – Sales and Marketing Council, and
membership in the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce. In North Charleston,
Moore is a member of the Olde North Charleston Merchants Association and the Olde
North Charleston Homeowners Association, in the heart of the historic district.
Impressive professionally, he is just as passionate about working with local
schoolchildren. “I’m dedicated to helping children, being a Father myself,” he explains.
“That’s why I work hard participating in the Reading with Realtors Program at James
Simons Elementary School, in North Charleston. It’s deeply rewarding, as we need to
help children from disadvantaged backgrounds to realize their full potential. They are our
future.”
In looking to the future, Moore is optimistic. “The country is going through some tough
times, but the people of North Charleston are resilient,” he concludes. “By staying
focused on building a great community at Hunley Waters, I believe we are creating one
of the nation’s up-and-coming sustainable cities in North Charleston.” – K.F.W.
