Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County Prevention Education Specialist Job Description Job Title: Department: Reports To: FLSA Status: Prepared: Approved By: Approved Date: Revised: Prevention Education Specialist Volunteer, Education and Outreach Department Volunteer, Education and Outreach Supervisor Exempt June 14, 2009 Board of Directors July 1, 2009 March 15, 2011 SUMMARY Plans, organizes, and directs education programs, specifically domestic, sexual, and other victimization programs, for daycares, pre-schools, grade’s K-12, teachers of these age groups, and parent/teacher organizations, as well as for youth and adult community groups and professional groups. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include to following. Develops, disseminates, and updates educational and informational materials to be used in programs that focus on issue awareness and prevention as well as agency services Schedules and promotes prevention/education programs in day-cares, pre-schools, primary, secondary and post-secondary schools, community agencies and among professionals and the public Co-facilitate SAVE^4, prepare materials & lessons, promote, schedule and attend meetings Submits program evaluations completed by teachers Maintains and updates agency library of resources Assists with volunteer training program Maintains required paper work Meets statistical goals as set forth in annual plan Upgrades skills and maintains personal currency of information about domestic violence, sexual assault and provision of service Maintains ongoing continuing education requirements as determined by supervisor Attends mandatory educational in-services Adheres to all agency policies and procedures Provides hotline, shelter, and intake coverage when schedule permits Other duties may be assigned PERSONAL CAREER/GROWTH Attends all required educational programs at the agency Continually upgrades skills and maintains currency of information regarding victimization as it relates to serious crimes and provision of service Attends required continuing education regarding victims of crime on a yearly basis SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities PE Specialist Page 1 of 3 Revised: March 2011 QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
