Project Number : F004 Class/Subclass : G10L Date : 19-Apr-11 CA thanks the Rapporteur for the Revision request with proposal of Annex 1. CA would like to point out a typographical error in the limiting reference of the title of G10L 13/027. The limiting reference recites “language translation G06F 15/38”, however, G06F 15/38 is an IPC 5 symbol. The current IPC symbol is G06F 17/28, therefore, CA suggests changing the limiting reference to reflect this (see the comment below for the proposed change). CA would like to point out the negative inclusion language of the G10L 13/027 title: “Concept to speech synthesizer: Generation of natural phrases not from text but from machine-based concepts (language translation G06F 15/38)” CA would like to propose removing the negative inclusion language, and replace it with a limiting reference pointing to the generation of natural phrases from text. The title proposed for G10L 13/027 would read: “Concept to speech synthesizer: Generation of natural phrases from machine-based concepts (generation of parameters for speech synthesis out of text G10L 13/08; language translation G06F 17/28)” CA noticed a deviation in the language used between G10L 15/04 and 15/05. CA wonders if this language choice is intentional, or if the title for G01L 15/05 should be changed to “Word limit detection” to remain consistent with G10L 15/04. CA also wonders how G10L 15/05 narrows the subject matter covered by G10L 15/04. At present it appears as though subject matter regarding “word limit detection” would be classified with symbols in both G10L 15/04 and 15/05. Similar to the comment above, CA wonders how to properly classify subject matter covered by G10L 15/24 and 15/25. Specifically, subject matter pertaining to speech recognition using “position of the lips” could be classified under G10L 15/24 and 15/25. CA suggests removing the text “e.g. position of the lips” from G10L 15/24 to eliminate this overlap. CA would like to point out a potential overlap in subject matter between G10L 15/30 and H04L or H04W. CA suggests that when a definition project for G10L is drafted that the overlap be clarified with the inclusion of “informative references” to H04L and H04W.
