2008 Annual Conference October 21-24, 2008 Kansas City, MO CALL FOR PROPOSALS Meeting in the Middle A Joint Conference between the Association of Midwest Museums (AMM) and the Mountain Plains Museum Association (MPMA) Twice the Size! Twice the Fun! In 2008, the Association of Midwest Museums (AMM) and the Mountain Plains Museums Association (MPMA) will come together to present a very special conference, Meeting in the Middle. The 2008 AMM/MPMA Conference, Meeting in the Middle, will explore the always-challenging goal of meshing theory with practice, working collaboratively, and speaking across different disciplines. The Conference will highlight collaboration, best practices, and planning for your museum’s future. Session proposals relating to any of these themes are warmly welcomed, along with proposals relating to other leadership, collection, programming and/or scholarly museum issues that address finding a good balance between innovation and tradition, theory and practice. Sessions provide an opportunity for museum professionals from museums and related institutions of all sizes, types, and backgrounds to examine how others in the profession solve problems, develop programs and exhibits, and collaborate. We invite proposals that examine different points of view, involve innovative thinking, and provide new approaches to problem-solving. Presenters should represent a variety of museums, disciplines, and a diversity of museum sizes. ALL proposals must be submitted by museum staff members or non-profit organizations. Additional conference information can be downloaded from the AMM or MPMA web sites at <www.midwestmuseums.org> or <www.mountplainsmuseums.org >. DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION IS JANUARY 18, 2008.
