Tuesday TWL: Students will read a short story in Spanish and analyze using el piramide de alimenticia.” Class: Spanish IB Objective: Students will conclude “en el supermercado” projcect by choosing foods and beverages they like/ don't like, and describing them and with what frequency they eat/drink them by cojugating beber/comer/compartir. Students will finish writing sentences, and prepare to verbally share with the teacher. LOTEL1.1.09 Read selected vocabulary words and sentences aloud in chorus and individually. LOTEL1.1.02 Use repetition and recitation to practice intonation and pronunciation of newly acquired vocabulary items. LOTEL1.1.10 Write descriptive sentences Materials: en el supermercado brochures Follow-up: Students will take a quiz over conjugations on Wednesday. Objective: Students will complete a bell-ringer over conjugating er/ir verbs in preparation for quiz Wednesday. Students will continue to take notes over food vocabulary (para mantener la salud) and will watch a realidades videohistoria about how a group of students in Puerto Rico maintain their health by eating healthy foods ( incorporation of new vocabulary). Students will answer to assessment questions in Spanish. Students will also be introduced to a new song “tuki tuki tuki tuki” by Juanes. LOTEL1.1.11 Write messages, short letters, compositions, journal entries and essays. LOTEL1.2.04 Learn and participate in songs, LOTEL1.1.10 Write descriptive sentences Materials: new vocabulary packet, song lyrics, dvd, comprehension questions Follow-up: Students will turn in comprehension questions over “para mantener la salud.” Students will be tested over “el burrito de belen” song prior to Christmas break. Quiz Wednesday over conjugations. Wednesday TWL: Quiz over ar, er, and ir verb conjugations and reading a short story in Spanish. Thursday TWL: Talk about preferences, plurals of adjectives and take notes over the conjugation of the verb ser and the difference between ser and estar Friday TWL: Ser vs. Estar project to be completed. Objective: Students will take a quiz over conjugating –er/-ir verbs (one of our mastery goals for the semester). Students will read “La Oruga Muy Hambrienta” in groups and make a food pyramid, “piramide alimenticia”recording what the caterpillar ate (in Spanish)and hypothesize based on the food pyramid, what caused the caterpillar to become so sick. LOTEL1.1.08 Read to discover meaning through context and visual clues. LOTEL1.1.10 Write descriptive sentences Materials: quiz, copy of short story and graphic organizer Follow-up: students will turn in graphic organizer and translation of short story. Objective: Students will do actividad 11 en pagina 155 as a bellringer with a partner “Que haces para mantener la salud?” Students will review performance on conjugations quiz. Students will begin taking notes over plurals of adjectives and the conjugations of the verb ser. Students will juxtapose ser v. estar in notes, and begin project illustrating the differences between ser/ estar. (DOCTOR/ PLACE). LOTEL1.1.07 Comprehend and or respond to short messages and conversations when listening to peers, familiar adults, and providers of public services in face-to-face and telephone interactions on everyday topics. Materials: bell-ringer, notes, project rubric Follow-up:time will be given tomorrow in class to complete doctor/place projects. Objective: Students will come up for an example sentence for each acronym (doctor and place) enumerating the differences between ser and estar and when/ how to use them in a sentence in Spanish. Projects are due by the end of class. Students will also practice “el burrito de belen” cancion.
