Student Professionalism Service Award Description In order to promote habits of professionalism and an understanding of the obligations to the public and the profession of all members of the Florida Bar, this award has been instituted. The award is open to all students of Florida law schools. The award will be made to the individual student who best exemplifies the ideals of professionalism through pro bono service, clinical and internship activities, mentoring of law students and others, community service and personal character. Each law school will submit the name of one student with a description of his or her law school related activities as well as any other activities, individually or through any organization, which evidence high levels of professionalism and personal character. In the case of non-legal service, leadership by the student in the service of others should be particularly noted. Appropriate supporting documents may also be submitted. Forward the nomination form and supporting documents to The Florida Bar's Henry Latimer Center for Professionalism at cfp@flabar.org. The deadline for submission is February 15. The Student Professionalism Service Award is a project of the Standing Committee on Professionalism. A project group from the Committee will review the entries and select the winner who will receive $1,000.00 and travel expenses paid to the award ceremony at either the Florida Supreme Court or a designated Board of Governors meeting. The Winner's law school also receives a trophy designed by Hugh Nicholson, whose works are permanently displayed at the State Capitol and the Governors Mansion. The trophy/sculpture is called "The Lion of Justice", and is housed at the law school of the winning student for one year. A description of the winner's pro bono, community service and other activities will be included in the Florida Bar News and on this web site.
