SciFinder (web version) user registration
In order for you to make use of the web based
version of SciFinder Scholar (electronic Chemical
Abstracts), everyone has to register themselves in
the following way. Registration will have to be on the
campus of the University of Pretoria (in order for the
IP address of your computer to be recognized).
Registration will have to be through the internet.
After registration you will access and use SciFinder
through the library server.
To register, please read the attached document on
choosing a username and password.
1. Access

2. Click on “Next” and complete your particulars.
(Please note that only UP e-mails will be recognized,
i.e. @up.ac.za or @tuks.co.za).
3. After registration SciFinder will send you an email to confirm your registration. Click on the URL
provided to complete the process. You will be told
that the registration is completed now.
4. Now you can access SciFinder through the library
web site: http://www.library.up.ac.za > E-Resources
> Databases A-Z > SciFinder (web version)
5. An error message will appear. You have to click
on “Continue to this website (Not recommended)”
