Intellectual Property Law (LLM) (on campus)
1 - Programme Proposal

This programme will be offered by AHRC Script Centre, which has an excellent standing
along with the range and depth of expertise required for delivery of teaching for same. It
will also be in perfect synergy with the Centre’s research strengths and research strategy.

The Centre is already offering a programme in Innovation Technology and Law, both on
campus and by distance learning along with a programme in Intellectual Property law by
distance learning. This programme in Intellectual Property Law for on campus students
will complement the above programmes in two ways: first, it enable Edinburgh Law
School to be the only one in Scotland to offer the LLM in Intellectual Property
programme on campus; second, it will enable the law school to offer the programme in
both an on-campus and distance learning format.

All the core Intellectual Property courses for this programme are already being offered
by the School of Law and form part of the broader LLM in Innovation, Technology and
Law. Apart from additional administrative resources required for running of the
programme, it will not require creation of any additional course materials or teaching
matter nor require any adaptation for on-campus delivery. As such it will allow for
maximising resources through increasing numbers of postgraduate students by providing
a choice of nominate degree in Intellectual Property Law to those students who are
interested in restricting their focus as such.
