WATAUGA COUNTY LIBRARY FIELD TRIP
On Friday, May 7, at 1:00 p.m., all Grace Academy students are invited to the Watauga
County Library for a tour by the Youth Services librarian of what the library has to offer
and how to use the facility. Parents will need to bring their children directly to the library
by 1:00 p.m. The tour and information session will last for about an hour. We plan to
explore the library on our own for another hour, so parents should plan to pick up their
children by 3:00 p.m. Parents are welcome to stay for all or part of that time. If you do
not already have a library card, we will send home applications that can be filled out
ahead of time, so that the students can check out books on the day of the tour. For more
information, please contact Connie Goff at conniewynn56@bellsouth.net.
WATAUGA COUNTRY LIBRARY YOUNG WRITERS' CONTEST
WATAUGA COUNTY LIBRARY YOUNG WRITERS CONTEST
The Watauga County Library is sponsoring the 3rd annual Young Writers Writing
Contest. Both poetry and prose entries written by High Country residents in kindergarten

prizes and, along with a select number of runners up, will also be published in the fall
edition of the library’s literary magazine.
Interested youth should send in their best poetry or prose by email
to ogray@arlibrary.org. Each entry should include the contestant’s name, age, grade,
phone number and email. Entries can also be dropped off at the youth services desk at
Watauga County Library.

RE-ENROLLMENT FOR GA FAMILIES
Priority is given to existing GA students and siblings as we begin our application and enrollment
process for the 2010-2011 school year. If you intend to re-enroll your child, please complete the
Student Re-enrollment Form and Financial Agreement Form from the Enrollment link on our
web-site, and turn those into the office with a non-refundable deposit of 10% of tuition as
soon as possible to reserve your space. Siblings will need to complete the enrollment process
outlined on the web-site, with the exception of the Pastor Recommendation and family
interview. Please contact Beth at littlejohnfam@bellsouth.net if you have any questions.
TESTING WEEK IS COMING
A reminder that year end testing will take place the week of May 3. Students will test from 8:30
until approximately 11:30 Monday through Thursday. After testing on M/W/TH, GA students will
stay for school instruction and be dismissed at their normal time, however we will not follow the
normal class schedule. Your HCAS will reflect the changed schedule, so please review it closely
when you print it out for that week. Extended Learning students will stay after testing on T/TH as
usual, and F will be a normal EL day for them. PART TIME STUDENTS - THERE ARE NO
LATIN, OMNIBUS, OR PRE-ALGEBRA CLASSES THAT WEEK. SCIENCE CLASS FOR
GRADES 7-8 WILL MEET FROM 12-2 ON MONDAY.
BALD GUY BREW
Here's how it works.
On Mondays, bring your coffee order to school, along with your payment (each one pound bag of
coffee is $12). We will be offering one pound bags of Columbian, Kenyan AA, or Sumatran.
These all come in regular and decaf. You may order any of these as beans or Bald Guy will
ground them for you. The coffee will be available for pick up the following Monday. Don't keep
this coffee for yourself, tell your friends and family. Order forms are available at
graceacademyboone.com.
