have immediate access to a work I hope may contribute to the critical dialog about the
world’s energy future.”
The books subtitle gives readers a hint as to its irreverent nature: a socio-political journey
through the tangled world of free and clean energy, its promise, its suppression and its
logical necessity for our survival. It includes an index, updated epilogue and an appeal to
President Obama and citizens of the world to consider a new energy paradigm. “We can
continue down the well-paved road of hydrocarbon and nuclear energy with their attendant
escalating disasters, or transition as fast as possible to a clean-energy future that uses nature
as its design template,” says Dr. O’Leary

Like his family and friends, Dr. O’Leary grew up believing in the American Dream. In his
first 30 years, spanning the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s, he believed that “if someone had a
better idea to benefit humanity and the environment, it would be responsibly researched and
implemented with the support of a benevolent government and corporate system eager to
help.”
Based on those assumptions, he eagerly jumped into the culture, serving as an Eagle Scout,
Apollo astronaut, Cornell and later Princeton University Professor. He was excited to
contribute his intellectual gifts to national and global agendas, and only faintly aware of the
growing human attack on the environment. Over time, he became disillusioned, as he
discovered fact after fact that shed light on a far different and darker world.
One of his biggest disappointments was discovering that not only were exciting,
breakthrough clean-energy solutions rarely developed, not surprisingly, they were being
actively suppressed by vested interests.
Soon after his disillusionment, O’Leary began researching new energy technologies traveling
around the world to meet dedicated inventors and see demonstrations of their proof of
concepts. He learned that hundreds of breakthrough energy technologies existed and
classified them in general categories including energy from the vacuum (zero point), cold
fusion, and advanced hydrogen and water chemistries. His research was published in his
1996 book, Miracle in the Void.

Brian O'Leary, Ph.D. is a scientist-philosopher with fifty years of experience in academic
research, teaching and government service in frontier science and energy policy. He was a
NASA scientist-astronaut during the Apollo program, the first to be selected for a planned
Mars mission, and participated in unmanned planetary missions as an Ivy League professor.
