Leadership and Management Responsibilities including Phase Leader The member of the SLT will: Deputise in the absence of the Head Teacher and Deputy Head Teacher, including the covering of school assemblies where appropriate. Assist in the formulation of the School Development Plan and secure its implementation through the effective management of change. Support the Head Teacher in developing and maintaining a climate conducive to school self-review and evaluation. Assist in the planning of the school curriculum as identified in the School Development Plan. Assist in the leadership and development of whole school issues in order to improve school effectiveness and to raise standards. Actively contribute to the leadership and management of the school in developing and monitoring policy and procedures. Lead and deliver school wide INSET as appropriate. Attend Governors’ meetings when requested and provide reports and information as required. 1 The Phase Leader will: Positively promote the school’s aims and empower the staff to strive together towards achieving the school’s goals. Establish good relationships, encourage good working practices (curriculum, pastoral, behavioural) and support and lead teachers within the phase. Lead, support, motivate and direct support staff working within the phase. Oversee all aspects of the phase organisation and management, including initiating regular phase meetings, in order to ensure that school policies and procedures are being followed. Liaise with other phase leaders via SLT. Oversee the induction process of new members of staff within the phase. Manage phase assemblies. Professional Responsibilities Contribute to the general provision of all children within the school. Plan, prepare and organise work for the class in accordance with school policies and the requirements of the curriculum at Ainslie Wood Monitor, review and assess children’s progress in accordance with national requirements and maintain pupil and class records according to school policy. Provide and contribute to oral and written assessments and reports relating to individual pupils and groups of pupils. Liaise with parents as appropriate and participate in organised consultation meetings. Participate in Ainslie Wood’s procedures for Performance Management and work towards meeting the agreed targets. Coordinator responsibilities 1) Accountability for Leading, Managing and Developing SEN & Safeguarding Be responsible for leading, developing and promoting Inclusion throughout Foundation, Key Stages 1 and 2 Identify relevant school improvement issues within Inclusion, formulate and implement an action plan in order to raise levels of attainment. Regularly monitor, review and evaluate the action plan. Develop, review and update the relevant policies. Organise and review teaching resources, equipment and materials; advise HT on priorities and future needs. Evaluate the impact of all training on the quality of Teaching and Learning. Be aware of developments in Inclusion and attend INSET/Coordinator meetings. Organise and attend review meetings for pupils. Work closely and collaboratively with other coordinators to ensure a cohesive and consistent approach to Inclusion. Promote parental understanding and involvement in their child’s needs. Liaise with staff, parents, Educational Psychologists and other outside agencies. To prepare for & attend relevant professionals meetings with regard to safeguarding. To maintain and review records of multi-agency involvement. 2 To complete appropriate referrals including CAFs in consultation with designated CP coordinator and SLT as appropriate. To monitor CP and Children in Need Plans. 2) Accountability for Impacting on Educational Progress Be responsible for developing and promoting Inclusion provision throughout Foundation, Key Stages 1 and 2 Ensure that schemes of work meet the needs of all children Develop and review procedures for identification and assessment of pupils with SEN and for the gifted and talented. Monitor pupil progress against IEP and other targets. Monitor pupil standards and achievement and report to SLT, Assessment coordinator and Governors where appropriate. 3) Leading, Developing and Enhancing the Professional Practice of Others The subject coordinator will: Be responsible for leading, developing and promoting Inclusion throughout Foundation, Key Stages 1 and 2. Disseminate knowledge and skills to staff through INSET and/or other appropriate methods. Act as a role model of good practice for other staff, providing support and modelling effective strategies where appropriate. Give direction to Teaching Assistants where appropriate.
