Directions: Use this checklist as a guide as you review and edit your partner’s personification
poem. Follow the directions in the “Checklist Items” column and write your feedback in the
“Comments or Suggestions” column.

Correct errors on the essay.
Check for detail.
Are the descriptions used specific? Are there
areas in which there could be more detail. Write

Check for confusing phrases.
Are there any phrases in the piece that you think
the author should reread to make sure they
correspond to what he or she meant to say? Write
your suggestions in the box provided.
Check punctuation/ comma splices/ fragments/
run-on sentences.
Circle any places where you think there should be
a comma, a period, quotation marks, or a capital
letter.
Positive feedback.
Think about which one you like the best. Write a
short compliment in the box provided explaining
why you like this piece.
