The CNRS UMR 8104 located at the Institut Cochin (http://www.cochin.inserm.fr) in Paris
wishes to host an ATIP team in 2007. Besides access to the common facilities, a surface of
about 45 m2 will be allocated to the new team.
The Institut Cochin is composed of 6 departments: Cell Biology, Genetic and Development,
Endocrinology, Metabolism and Cancer, Immunology, Infectious Diseases, and Hematology.
The surface dedicated for the ATIP team is located within the department of Endocrinology,
Metabolism and Cancer.
This department includes 6 teams, the research projects of which are centered around 3 major axis:
1. Cell and hormone signaling
 cAMP pathway in endocrine tumorigenesis
 G protein coupled receptor activated by angiotensin and vasopressin
 Wnt – catenin pathway in hepatic and digestive tumorigenesis
 Insulin signaling
2. Mechanisms of tumorigenesis
 Tanscriptomes and genomes of adrenal tumors
 Mechanisms of hepatic and digestive epithelium oncogenesis
3. Metabolic regulations of genes by nutrients and hormones
 Hepcidin, the new iron hormone
 Metabolic actions of fatty acids
 Gene regulation by glucose
 COUP-TFII and AMP kinase in the regulation of carbohydrate and lipid metabolisms.
These different teams work on the mechanisms of hormone, nutrient actions, and carcinogenesis at the
molecular, cellular and physiological levels, and they develop together the same methods in:
 Molecular biology and mouse genetic to identify genes involved in specific types of
endocrine or digestive cancers.
 Cell biology with technics analyzing protein-protein interaction (FRET/BRET, two-hybrid
system) and cell imaging with the help of the platforms in the Institute.
Technological platforms available at the Institute : Experimental surgery, Flow cytometry, Small animal
imagery, IT and networking, Protein microanalysis, Confocal microscopy, Electronic microscopy, Small
animal histology and morphology, Homologous recombination, Genome and sequencing studies,
Transgenesis.
