Jane King has extensive experience of board level working within and beyond the NHS. Jane has been a Health Authority NED and Mental Health Trust Chair and was West Midlands Commissioner with the NHS Appointments Commission from its inception until 2005. She has particular experience of working with challenged boards. Jane is also an academic consultant and author, writing particularly on leadership and change management for the Open University Business School. She is currently contributing to the NHS Leadership Academy's Mary Seacole Programme, on Improving Patient Safety and Experience and on Accountability, Governance and Performance. She continues to work as a coach – increasingly with clinicians taking on leadership roles – and regularly facilitates events and board development sessions. Jane joined the Board at Mid Staffordshire NHS FT in August 2011. She is now an Independent Member of the Trust and continues to chair its Quality Committee.
