Easy Access
34.1 It was noted that ‘no objections’ to the amendments only, to the plan, were submitted for the
construction & operation of twin parallel pipelines, pumping stations and infrastructure for water
delivery and brine disposal between Bromborough & King Street, Northwich. It was confirmed that
the Town Council objections to the original plan still stand.
34.2 Disabled route sign: it was noted that Cllr Bondi agreed to bring draft plans for the signs to
the next meeting and confirmation of the costs to be sought.

34.3 To consider application to the Cheshire County Council ‘Parish Small Grants Scheme’ for
Countryside Access Improvements: it was agreed to look into this scheme to ascertain whether
different projects could be part funded in addition to the Festival of Walks leaflets.

Rights of Way Maintenance
35.1 To note updates of issues raised in item 23.1 & 23.2, meeting 2: contact with Richard Ankers
(CCC) had not been possible and a meeting is to be arranged to discuss outstanding issues

35.2 To consider matters, which may have arisen on allocated paths:
Footpath 47
two sections of the path are very overgrown with ferns (start and middle)
Footpath 35
section from A56 completely cultivated
Footpath 49
whole length of footpath is impassable and lacking definition. Short stretch
from Tarvin Rd end is potentially dangerous as it leads to a half hidden drop
above a stream
Footpath 33
walkable but very overgrown throughout
Footpath 34
over grown at centre gate
Middle Walk
it was noted that the Woodland Trust have removed a fallen branch

Footpath 76
needs strimming

It was noted that a site meeting to be held on 13 October with the Woodland Trust is to discuss the
ownership of the land at the edge of the Hill and will also discuss additional land around Middle
Walk.

A suggestion to include footpath/RuPP numbers on the way markers is to be discussed further at
the next meeting.

35.3 To consider suggestions for improvements to footpath 110 leading to Blue Hatch behind
railway station car park: discussions with CCC are ongoing

35.4 To note update of improvements to the disabled footpath at the side of Forest Hills leading to
memorial field: it was noted that the path had been satisfactorily and payment could now be made.
35.5 To consider update regarding the poor condition of the Marsh roads: this is to be pursued
with CCC Highways Department

35.6 To consider making a request to the Tree Group for a commemorative plaque for Mr Hurst: it
was agreed to request a plaque on the new bench at the Memorial Field

36.1 To consider update regarding land purchase: it was noted that the purchase is to be chased
up as a matter of urgency

section of path: this is pending re the above
36.3 To consider suggestions for improvements to the footpath network: ongoing

37.1 To note update of new 100 Challenge Walks Books: it was noted that the final draft copy is
awaiting approval.

37.2 To consider risk assessment for the position of Marshes Warden: ongoing

37.3 To note correspondence received from Defra re the right to apply for public path orders: it
was noted that plans to allow it to be easier to extinguish paths are not to occur, at the present time,
as new primary legislation is required to enact it.
Organised Walks
38.1 To consider suggestions from debrief meeting of working party of 2008 Festival of Walks: it
was noted that there is to be a meeting on 15 October at 10am
38.2 To consider suggestions for organised walks for 2008/09: it was noted that a Mayor’s Charity
Sponsored Walk is to be held on Saturday 13 September
Any other matters considered to be urgent for discussion, or item for next agenda
