Presenter Biographies:
Dr. William Bixler is a NC Licensed Psychologist and NC Certified Health Services
Provider. He has a doctorate in clinical psychology and master’s degree in theology
from the Fuller Seminary Graduate School of Psychology. He received a B.A. in
anthropology from Wheaton College (IL). Dr. Bixler has a special interest in treating sex
addiction behavior and has trained with Dr. Patrick Carnes,
Greg Hill, M.A., L.P.C specializes in working with sexual addiction and the spouses of
sexual addicts. He also works with individuals, couples, and families addressing issues
such as anxiety, depression, communication, grief, and parenting. He has completed
advanced level training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. He is a Certified Sexual
Addiction Therapist through IITAP, founded by Dr. Patrick Carnes.
Dr. Lisa Lefler, Executive Director for The Center for Native Health, is a medical
anthropologist, specializing in behavioral health for Native American and Appalachian
populations. Lisa has M.Ed and Ed. S. degrees in curriculum development. She is the
Director of Culturally Based Native Health Programs, Associate Professor of
anthropology and Cherokee Studies at Western Carolina University, and a Research
Associate at Wake Forest University.
Roseanna Belt is a native of Cherokee, N.C., and an enrolled member of the Eastern
Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), She has been director of Western's Cherokee Center
since 2001. Roseanna has a bachelors degree in history from the University of
Colorado at Boulder and a master’s degree in Counseling and Consulting Psychology
from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Education. She serves as a clinical faculty
member at WCU. She is a board member for Jackson County REACH, which deals with
family violence and family support issues. She has recently been called to serve on the
State Advisory Council on Indian Education in Raleigh
