Focus: Senior ER care of patients age 65 years and greater.
 Researched and piloted the Essential Elements for the Senior ER across the ministry
organization using the Hartford Geriatric Institute “Try This Tools”
 Developed the monitoring tool for Senior assessment
 Assisting with the Cerner/FirstNet input of the Senior Essentials
 Assisting with conference calls, on and off-site programs from other ministry hospitals
regarding their implementation of Senior ER

Focus: Maintaining evidence-based practice standards in the Emergency Center and throughout
the hospital.
o Strong clinical focus on the care of the older adult. Current research project on the utility
of using a preflight checklist to improve transitions of care between nursing facilities and
the ER. Assists with research on the older adult.
o ER liaison for the Cardiac Primary Percutaneous Intervention (PCI program) – standard
of care, door-to-balloon times, maintaining physician order set reflects current STEMI
guidelines; PPCI drug box contains current medications; Emergency Medical personnel
liaison; the instructor to assist with certifying EMS agencies to perform 12 Lead ECG out
in field – most recent Northville Fire Department;)
o Implemented 15 Lead ECG acquisition and orderable in the hospital to follow the Class I
and Class IIa recommendations of performing a 15 Lead (right and posterior lead
placement)
o ER representative on Stroke Team assisting with Stroke JCAHO certification: education,
chart review, patient follow-up; liaison with EMS regarding stroke pre-hospital care and
notification.
o Director of Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum and
Emergency Nurse Pediatric Certification programs for hospital
o Other responsibilities include: Assist with EC associate orientation both clinical and
classroom; Instruct Basic EKG Interpretation; 12/15 Lead EKG Interpretation; ACLS prep
classes for nurses and physicians; assist with BLS; liaison with Cardiovascular; Outcome
Management, EMS personnel, Laboratory, and Pharmacy
o Customer service instructor for the hospital along with improvement strategies to raise
customer satisfaction. Recently implemented/designed Thank You cards for the
Emergency Center which will also be implemented throughout the hospital
o Approved committee representative for obtaining contact hours for educational programs
o Monitors the Code records for standard of care; updates Code records to reflect
