STRAND SELECON TAHI/RUA FOLLOWSPOT SPECIFICATION. GENERAL. A.) Overview. 1.) The Followspot shall be able to operate with a 1200W - 1400W 6000K MSR single ended lamp. 2.) The Followspot shall produce a beam of white light with high apparent brightness. 3.) The Followspot shall incorporate an Active Heat Management System to channel heat away from the lamp base, iris, and lenses. 4.) The lamp base shall be mounted base down for maximum cooling, with the lamp positioned vertically in an axial aluminium reflector for maximum optical efficiency. A flat dichroic cold mirror shall reflect the light beam at right angles, and allow the heat to pass through. 5.) Access to the lamp shall be by removal of the lamp module unit mounted on the underside of the lamphouse. 6.) The Followspot shall use a zoom profile system, providing the following adjustable beam angle ranges: a.) Medium: beam angle adjustable from 9 to 16 degrees. The Followspot shall not exceed 1420mm in length, and 489mm in the height of the Followspot body. The Followspot shall not exceed 54kg in weight. b.) Wide: beam angle adjustable from 18 to 24 degrees. The Followspot shall not exceed 1164mm in length, and 489mm in the height of the Followspot body. The Followspot shall not exceed 51kg in weight. 7.) The ballast for the Followspot shall be electronic, flicker free, and mounted inside the main body of the Followspot. It shall be able to accept input supply voltages in the range of 110-260V 47-63 Hz, and have a dimmable range of 60100%. 8.) The lenses shall be constructed from high heat resistant polished borosilicate glass. The lenses shall be optically coated to improve the beam quality and light output. 9.) Plastic lenses shall not be permitted. B.) Operation. 1.) The lens position shall be adjusted by releasing lamp focus knobs, and sliding the lens to the required position. A numerical scale for recording focus setting shall be provided. There shall be three operator guide rails running the length of the Followspot for positioning. 2.) Peak/flat field adjustment shall be by a master gear located on the rear panel of the Followspot. No tools shall be required for peak / flat field adjustment, and it shall be possible to operate the adjustment controls without gloves, even after the Followspot has been in operation for several hours. 3.) The lamp replacement shall be by opening the bottom access cover; power to the lamp base shall be disconnected by a microswitch cut out. The lamp module shall have three shock dampening springs to protect against shock vibrations when the Followspot is in use. 4.) The lenses shall be mounted in carriers constructed from spun aluminium. For cleaning and maintenance, there shall be a lens access cover positioned on the top of the Followspot. 5.) The Followspot shall be supplied with a colour changer located on the front of the Followspot which shall accept up to six colours, and shall be a self canceling design. 6.) The Followspot shall incorporate a precision iris. The iris shall black out when fully closed, and include a guard to protect the iris leaves from the direct light beam when in the closed position. 7.) The Followspot shall incorporate a manual mechanical dowser that shall provide a smooth even fade when used by the operator. 8.) The Followspot shall incorporate a dichroic CTO colour filter to change the colour temperature from 6000K to 3200K. 9.) The Followspot shall incorporate a frosted glass diffusion filter to enable the softening of the beam without adjusting the lens focus positioning. 10.) The Followspot shall incorporate a set of horizontal and vertical cutters to change the shape of the beam from circular to four sided. 11.) There shall be a gobo holder accessory available for the Followspot able to accept "B" size steel gobos. 12.) Electrical/Environmental Data: a.) Supply Voltage: 110V-260V 47-63 Hz. b.) Max Wattage: 1400W. c.) Lamp Type: Philips MSR GOLD 1200 FastFit 9281 750 05108. d.) Supply Cable: 1.5m heat resistant silicon rubber cable. e.) Angles of use: 45 above to 60 degrees below horizontal. 13.) The Followspot shall be tested and approved to the following international standards: a.) EN 60-598-2-17 1989 including amendments 1 & 2. b.) EN 60-598-1 1992 including amendment 1. c.) Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive 89/336/EEC as amended by Directive 91/263/EEC and 92/31/EEC. C.) Mechanical. 1.) The Followspot housing shall consist of aluminium extrusions running the length of the body. Sheet metal side panels shall not be accepted. 2.) The Followspot shall have a steel alloy yoke suspension with M12 centre hole, and shall be supplied with 28mm outside diameter spigot and nylon washer. The yoke shall be braced to provide additional rigidity. The yoke shall have a built-in platen to provide additional stability. It shall be possible to rebalance the Followspot by sliding the yoke along the mounting channels on either side of the Followspot housing. Tilt adjustment shall be possible by pivoting fixing of yoke and locked by interlocking cup and disc assembly operated by heat insulated plastic knob. 3.) The Followspot shall have a 99.9% pure anodised aluminium ellipsoidal reflector polished to high reflectivity. 4.) The lenses shall be constructed from heat resistant clear borosilicate glass mounted in aluminium carriers for smooth focus movement. The lenses shall be optically coated to improve the beam quality and light output. 5.) Beam Angles: Medium 9-16 degree, Wide 18 – 24 degree. 6.) The finish shall be high temperature black epoxy powder paint. The high heat resistant moulded engineering plastic components shall be matt black.
