Paediatric Dentistry - Psychological aspects in dentistry
Subjects of the course: to develop sensitive and understanding approach to child patient and to
perform some simple dental procedures.
Seminars: 6 hours (6 x 1 hour)
Each session is proceeded by theoretical introduction on scheduled subjects

Topics of seminars
Dental history taking and clinical examination of child patients. Principles of work
organization and equipment of dental surgery for children.
Children at different developmental stages - clinical approach. Anatomy and
morphology of primary teeth.
Child introduction to a dentist. Techniques of children’s behaviour management
An evaluation of causes and methods of measuring dental anxiety and fear in
children. Anxiety and anxiety related behaviour in dental surgery.
Management of dental fear and pain – therapeutics, sedation , general anaesthesia.
Local anaesthesia for children.
Dental health care in disabled and medically compromised children. Child physical
abuse (non accidental injury). Anorexia nervosa and bulimia – dental aspects.
