The outcome may result in a potential grouping of some applicants/teams (possibly involving meetings with the applicants/teams), and consideration of institutional commitments, in discussion with relevant Schools. • A robust management structure with a nominated director(s) (for Centre applications) and clear arrangements for coordination and management of the strategic direction of the Centre/Grant • Strong institutional commitment and practical contributions to hosting and sustaining an ESRC Centre or Large Grant • A commitment to identifying and exploiting potential opportunities to work with existing ESRC investments, where appropriate, to maximise impact • Research contributions which give value added over the ESRC’s existing portfolio of centres and large grants. 3 ESRC will be looking for evidence of strong institutional commitment and contributions to hosting a Centre or Large Grant, for example, through the provision of grant associated parallel activities and capacity building. They will also want to see how the proposal fits with institutional plans to develop research performance and the research strategy of the host institutions.
