SCI: 4-2.1 Classify organisms into major groups (including plants or
animals, flowering or nonflowering plants, and vertebrates [fish, amphibians,
reptiles, birds, and mammals] or invertebrates) according to their physical
characteristics.
Read Lesson One (Classify Organisms into Major Groups) text
together, whole class. Take notes in the margins of the text
and highlight important parts.
SS: 4-4: The student will demonstrate an understanding of the beginnings

demonstrate and discuss classifying organisms into major
groups with the students.

Read Lesson Two (Environments) text together, whole class.
Take notes in the margins of the text and highlight important
parts.
SS: 4-5.1: Summarize the major expeditions that played a role in westward
expansions including those of Daniel Boone, Lewis and Clark, and Zebulon
Pike.
