Intro paragraph
Hello, have you ever thought how deadly in earthquake could possibly be. An earthquake is a terrible
disaster that kills thousands of people each year. It happens when plates or rocks in the earth shift or
break. I have all eased and wondered what it would be like if I was in an earthquake? Let’s find out!
How do earthquakes form? Earthquakes happen when plates or rocks in the earth shift or break,
because of the stress on them. It occurs really often, underground. After that aftershocks will follow on.
You can try this with a woodchip and a partner. First you and the partner hold the woodchip. Then you
and the partner push on it and it will break. Isn’t that interesting?
About how many earthquakes are there each year. It is estimated that there are 500,000 earthquakes
each year. Only about 100,000 will be felt, and not a lot will be big earthquakes. If they are really big
they will trigger a tsunami. That’s a lot of earthquakes.
What year was the first ever reported earthquake? The first ever reported earth was reported in
California 1769 by the exploring expiation of Gasper de Portola while the group was camping 48
kilometers (30 miles) of Las Angeles. I don’t think much people know that.
Where do earthquakes happen the most ? The Circum Pacific Belt. Only a little of these earthquakes
will actually be felt. The Circum Pacific Belt also has a nickname. Nickname (Ring of Fire). Did you know
that?
How long can earthquakes go on for? Don’t be so scared… Earthquakes only go on for, a couple seconds.
But aftershocks will follow after the earthquake. An aftershock is like a mini earthquake. But it still does
a big amount of damage. Wow, earthquakes do a lot of damage.
How does my natural disaster occur?. Earthquakes happen when plates or rocks in the earth shift or
break because of the stress on them. It occurs really often, underground. After that aftershocks will
follow on. You can try this with a woodchip and a partner. First you and the partner hold the woodchip.
Then you and the partner push on it and it will break. Isn’t that interesting?
How does my natural disaster affect people? Earthquakes destroy people’s property. Tears up cities
towns and sometimes even kills them. That is really scary.
Can anything be done to help lessen the dangers of my natural disaster? Yes like hiding under a desk or
table. Make sure you wear shoes after an earthquake because; there is broken glass, metal, plastic, and
lots of other harmful things on the ground. Be careful.
