Precalculus Requirements 2015-2016 Ms. Corrigan What you will need for this class: Notebook or loose leaf binder Folder (or notebook with pockets) Pencil with eraser Graphing calculator 1) Notebooks You will be required to keep a notebook for this class only. Your notebook should include notes given in class on the smartboard or on handouts with the date and topic, classwork assignments, and homework with the date and corrections made after reviewed as a class (also include book page(s) and problems numbers). 2) Class Preparation You must come prepared and on time to class everyday with your notebook, pencil, and graphing calculator. All quizzes and tests must be completed in pencil or points will be deducted!! 3) Class Absence If you are absent, you are responsible to make up all missed work. Please check with a classmate for missed class notes and “opener” activities. Also, check the worksheet box for any handouts. The precalc r-track calendar on Schoolwires will have the homework assignments listed for each night. It is your responsibility to make up all missed work. As a general guideline, if you are out for 2 days, you will be given 2 days to make up missed work or prepare for a missed quiz or test. All quizzes and tests will be announced, as well as the topics they will cover. Formal or informal reviews will be given before tests. Since tests and quizzes are announced in advance, students who are absent the day of are expected to make it up the day they return to school. 4) Grading Classwork/Homework: 20% Quizzes: 30% Tests: 50% *Your final grade is based on 40% (1st-half of the semester), 40% (2nd-half of the semester), and 20% (final exam). 5) Classroom Rules Please be conscious of these class rules and consequences: 1. Be prepared, on time, and ready to work. 2. Be respectful and polite to the teacher and your fellow classmates. 3. Listen and stay seated when someone is talking. 4. No writing on the desks!!! 5. You must remain in your seats until the bell rings. Do not pack up and stand near the door waiting for the bell to ring. 1 Consequences: i. ii. iii. iv. v. 1st Offense: Verbal warning 2nd Offense: Teacher conference (individual) 3th Offense: Call parent/guardian to discuss student behavior 4rd Offense: Write-up to office 5th (and last) Offense: Parent/teacher meeting in person with guidance counselor. 6) Textbooks You will be assigned one textbook for this course. The textbooks are to be used for classwork and if there is time left after the lesson to start the homework. Please bring your textbook with you to class each day. Please see online textbook information on my Schoolwires page to access the online textbook for nightly homework assignments if you wish to leave your textbook in your locker overnight. I do not want you to leave your textbook in the classroom. 7) Graphing Calculators If you own a graphing calculator please bring it to class everyday. You will all get a form to fill out if you need to borrow a graphing calculator. No one in the class will get a graphing calculator to borrow until ALL forms are returned to me so please fill out these forms immediately!! 8) Where to find me? I will be available for extra help after school 1 day a week (I will let you know which day). Please be sure to make arrangements with me prior to the meeting so I can adjust my schedule accordingly.
