We invite you to read it all so that you are well informed before you come in Macedonia. Project Description The project will gather 24 participants from 12 European countries. “Projects Re-developing youth work” will contain the following learning processes: Local youth work contexts with emphasis on the ways we identify and learn about the needs of the young people as our main focus in our work workshops about learning to learn within local youth work – including the European Portfolio of Youth Workers workshops about international partnerships and sharing of the different context challenges and realities of the youth work in Europe Activities related to project management with emphasis of the self-directed learning The six-day Training Course will be organized from 1-7th February in Skopje. The methodology will mainly focus on practical work experiences, containing a lot of reflection in the past activities of the participants, discussions about the key competences youth work should provide to young people and how to develop projects with better quality that will face the learning challenges youth workers encounter today in Europe. The project will end with peer-mentorship part that aims to continue the sharing among the youth workers after the training has finished. The objectives are: To make the participant- youth workers aware of the learning processes and make it applicable in their daily work. This will be done through sessions introducing the Kolb circle of learning and self-reflection about the learning process both personal and related to the youth work the participants are doing. To open discussions and sharing about the youth work contexts in Europe, explore the different realities and identify areas of further improvement by sharing experiences and ideas. This should eventually lead to re-developing youth work as such and allowing the participant-youth workers to get out of the box and enlarge the frame of youth work they are doing. To promote self-reflection and self-directed learning in Youth work in Europe in both the individual and group learning done in local youth work. 1 |T.C. Short Review of the Methodology: Regarding the methodology one of the models we will use links youth work made up of different relationships. As with all models or maps, it does not tell: rather it can be seen as a useful entry point for reflection by youth leaders/workers as part of an internal and external dialogue about their competences. The starting point for open discussion and sharing the previous experience will start with this. This model will look on at the relationship between youth leaders/workers, youth work and young people. The second tool, that will be shown in triangle for the discussion will be the relations between youth work, youth policy and youth research. These links will be shared among the participants aiming to explore the possibilities of how to include them in our local grassroots projects. In this ways we will explore the concepts in which we define the objectives of our grassroots projects, and learn more how to make these objectives better which will make our local youth work better. One competence which becomes increasingly important as we go forward into the 21st Century is that of “knowing how to live together” – defined by UNESCO as being one of the four pillars of learning. We will focus on how to link this idea with the local youth work in one of the sessions aiming to look at the own youth work of the participants, and answer the following questions: What should youth leaders/workers know? What should youth leaders/workers be able to do? What emotional and personal competence should youth leaders/workers have? What should youth leaders/workers have in their backpack? There will be an open space session that is made on the principle “Be prepared to be surprised! There may be parts of the functions which sound a little strange, or unusual to you. They may not be part of your direct experience NOW. However this method will allow great experience and prepare the youth workers for further activities and situations 2 |T.C.
