concerning White Oak from how I
select my trees, how I prepare the
wood, making it suitable for
weaving, to the Owens method of
rimming.

Starting on an oval base with the spokes glued in prior to class, learn to twine and upset in a uniform
fashion. Using a variety of color choices, weave a fun play in color learning a paired three rod wale with
a step-up. A variety of white tail deer antlers will be available to attach in a unique way to the rim.

twine seagrass between every
row without cutting each

In this class you will choose the
sweetgrass design of your choice.
Select from round or oval shaping
and design with either pine knots,
a twisted rim, or side handles.
Sweetgrass baskets, also referred
to the Charleston Basket, are
coiled of sweetgrass and southern
long leaf pine needles and lashed
with palmetto strips.

This necklace is created by
‘weaving’ a web of waxed linen
around a smooth stone. Using
simple bead stringing and peyote
stitch techniques you will create
a one of a kind necklace. The

will insert pre-shaped staves into a
cherry base on a class mold. A fine
cane is used for the weavers with a

The main emphasize of the class is
maintaining control of the shape of
your basket. The basket features
ombre dyed spokes, space dyed
weavers, 3/3 twill, 2/1 lashing
technique as well as twining and four
rod waling. Basket will be woven in
woodland greens and browns and
accented with naturals. (Ariseama is
the botanical name for Jack-in-thePulpit, a woodland flower.)
The uniqueness of this practical
caddy is the 3 sided handle which
is attached into a wooden slotted
base, along with learning how to
string beads around the center
where the colored spokes are. The
basket is all start/stop weaving
with a traditional rim. Matching
yarn and strings of beads are
added as an additional
embellishment. Available in a
variety of colors.

This unique ribbed style basket
starts with a beautiful Josephine
knot using #6 round reed. The
round reed from the knot forms
the basket. Students will use a
variety of weaving materials to
create a beautiful ribbed basket.

with ash staves set into a slotted
cherry base and woven with ash
weavers. A slotted cherry rim
and drop on lid adorned with a
bold metal handle top off this
basket.
This n ice large oval tote has a
wood base and 2 swing handles to
make it very functional.
Techniques include lots of triple
twining and a wave weave with
natural & dyed reed. Color choice
at class time.

this woven cube. It is all done in a
3-3 twill starting with the base
and then weaving diagonally up
the sides. Half of the stakes are
hidden inside the box when the
final base is woven.The final cut
