Job Summary
Perform custodial work, painting, moving furniture, grounds and general maintenance under the
control of the Department of Housing and Residential Life, primarily in and around residential
hall facilities.
Positions Details
1. Begins May 12th and ends August 21st 2014.
2. Will work no more than 30 hours per week.
3. Reduced housing costs in Hyde Hall available for successful applicants.
4. Successful applicants may not work any other job on campus while employed by
Housing and Residential Life.
Summary of Essential Job Functions
1. Cleaning residential hall facilities in preparation for the upcoming academic year and
for summer guests as directed.
a. To include but not limited to: vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing walls, floors,
assisting with floor preparation for waxing, washing windows, and cleaning
mirrors.
2. Repairing residential hall facilities in preparation for the upcoming academic year and
for summer guests as directed.
a. To include but not limited to: repairing walls and ceilings for painting, repairing
student room furniture, painting, replacing light bulbs, oiling doors, and repairing
screens.
3. Picking up grounds outside residential facilities as directed.
4. Moving/carrying furniture or linen.
Minimum Requirements
1. Painting or cleaning experience preferred.
2. Some knowledge of hand tools, good hand eye coordination.
3. Ability to go up and down multiple flights of stairs repetitively throughout the day.
4. Be punctual, complete the daily work schedule, and maintain a neat, clean personal
appearance throughout each day.
5. Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds.
6. Must keep a positive attitude and have the ability to work with a diverse work force.
7. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
8. Work in hot temperatures above 90º.
