Occupational therapists help people of all ages do the things they want and need to do through the therapeutic use of daily activities or occupations, according to the American Occupational Therapy Association. Interventions include helping children with disabilities participate fully in school and social situations, helping people recovering from injury regain skills, and providing support for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes. Our occupational therapy program teaches students to restore, reinforce and enhance performance through meaningful activities or occupations that help individuals learn the skills and functions required to take care of themselves, be productive and improve overall health and well-being. Our programs are earning national recognition for developing competent, ethical and empathetic occupational therapy practitioners and occupational scientists who are improving the health and working lives of individuals and communities. National Ranking and Accreditation Our professional master’s program in occupational therapy is currently ranked 21st in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report. The Occupational Therapy program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association located at 4720 Montgomery Lane, Suite 200, Bethesda, MD 20814-3449.
