WHEREAS,

Environmental

Club is a student organization devoted to environmental education

and action, involving students in activities designed to protect

and enhance Jacksonville’s natural resources and beauty; and

GreenState’s

was

recognized as the school district’s Green Champion of the Year in

2010 and is certified as a Green Classroom Professional by the
6
Green Building Certification Institute; and

WHEREAS, the club’s latest project involves collecting illegal
8
“snipe signs” from roadsides and public rights-of-way and using
9
them to create bird houses, of which over 250 have been created and
10
given away to faculty, staff and others to erect in their yards and
11
neighborhoods; now therefore

BE IT RESOLVED by the Council of the City of Jacksonville:
