Key responsibilities
 Develop and implement an annual internal
communications strategy
 Lead organisational culture change
programme of activity as part of overarching
programme alongside HR and other teams.
 Deliver internal campaigns on key issues
 Provide advice and support to senior RIBA
team including Chief Executive
 Produce and conduct briefing material for
RIBA staff on key issues designing creative
plans for staff engagement
 Manage internal communication channels
including writing and editing content for the
intranet and staff e-newsletter
 Act as the point of contact for all internal
communication queries and advice requests
 Lead the redevelopment of the intranet
 Organise internal communications and staff
engagement events
 Evaluate internal communications activities
 Oversee programme budgets
 Other ad hoc duties as required by Comms
team.
Essential
Roles at this level are accountable for most or all of the
following:
Substantial experience of developing and
implementing internal communications strategies
and measuring their effectiveness.
Experience of advising senior staff on complex
internal communications matters.
Experience of influencing staff at all levels within an
organisation.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent organisational/project management skills.
Familiarity with all steps of the production process:
commissioning, editing, design, production.
Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
Desirable
Experience of working in an organisation with
geographically dispersed staff.
Experience of working on change culture projects.
A recognised qualification in communications or
marketing.
Key outcomes
Delivery of exceptional internal comms strategy to
budget and timetable.
Qualifications
Degree or equivalent.
Scope
Accountable for managing or coordinating a significant area of
work/activity for RIBA. Senior technical/
professional/specialist staff act have high level advisory role in
RIBA.
Decisions
Makes decisions that affect a work area’s ability to achieve
some of its performance objectives in respect of the annual
plan.
Work largely unsupervised except for agreeing
priorities/resources, reviewing work quality and help in
reconciling cross-functional issues.
People
Leads and motivates team of staff or apply persuasive skills to
motivate and encourage others through advisory role.
Resources
May have delegated accountability for project or team budgets,
or income generation.
May have formal input to planning or budgetary process or
allocation of departmental resources
