Best bulls £300+ - £320 heifers topping £220 - £240. Dairy Breeds (23): Best Friesian bulls £120 reaching £140 for T T & H Barber. Medium rearers traded £45-£60. Smaller rearers £30-£36, minimum £30. Freemartin Friesian heifers £15-£35. Native Breeds (20): Good trade with Hereford bulls to £240 and £260 for A W Jones, heifers to £200 for Liz Best, smaller rearing heifers traded £110-£115. Medium Angus bulls traded £165-185, small heifers to £82. Simmental (17): Best bulls just a touch easier on the week topping at £302 for J & L Garside and Lodge Farm Ltd. Best bulls £280+, heifers to £195 for Jim Garside. Limousin(7): Trade topped at £300 for R A Williams & Son, Best £270+, heifers reached £218 for Anton Smith, average £193. British Blue (30): Over 1/3 rd of entry British Blues. Best bulls again over £300, reaching £320 for R A Williams and Ken Godwin. The medium Blue bulls £260--£270. Avg £258. The stronger cattle (Over 24 months) sold to a good trade with the native steers in demand. Hereford steers sold to £768 (139p/kg) from M/s C Sutton Farming, Chiseldon with White Park steers to £768 (139p/kg) from the same home. Overage Aberdeen Angus steers sold to £692 (132p/kg) from M/s F & J King, Whiteshill. The Continental steers saw Charolais steers to £695 (144p/kg) from Mr M Hathaway, Staverton & £680 (130p/kg) from Mr G Toomer, Wootton Bassett. The heifers also sold to a good trade with Charolais’ to £738 (147p/kg) from Mr M Hathaway, Staverton & Simmental’s to £705 (138p/kg) from M/s H C Jones & Son, Bourton. Overage Hereford heifers sold to £685 (114p/kg) from M/s J & A Livall, Highworth with their overage Aberdeen Angus heifers sold to £628 (120p/kg) The farming cattle (17 – 24mnths) sold to a very good trade with again the native breeds in demand. Hereford steers sold to £830 (159p/kg) from M/s Bydemill Farms, Hannington. With a Beef Shorthorn steer to £740 (154p/kg) from Mr D Rugman, Oldbury Naite with his Aberdeen Angus steers to £690 (153p/kg) The Continental steers saw Simmental’s to £725 (136p/kg) from M/s H C Jones & Son, Bourton. The Friesian steers again sold to a good trade with the stronger or better shaped sorts trading between 110 – 115p/kg topping at £498 (110p/kg) from M/s E & M Saunders, Wootton Bassett. The lesser shaped sorts traded between 95 – 105p/kg. The heifers saw very few forward with grand Simmental’s to £725 (145p/kg) from M/s R & J Portch, Brinkworth. Limousin heifers sold to £690 (155p/kg) from Mr H J Caswell, Wanborough and Hereford heifers to £570 (118p/kg) from M/s D Rumming & Son, Leigh. The younger stores (8 – 12mnths) sold to a very good trade with a grand run of Limousin’s from Mr G Rea, Wantage selling to £678 (150p/kg) & £660 (159p/kg) for his steers & £492 (130p/kg) for the heifers. A super run of Aberdeen Angus steers & heifers from Mr B Willis, Eysey saw steers to £582 (158p/kg) & £542 (146p/kg) & heifers to £438 (109p/kg) . Trade has been strong all week with today no exception and the best handyweight lambs trading to a premium between 168 – 170p/kg topping at 179p/kg £77 for 43kg from M/s D & A Dando. The general run of lambs sold well trading between 160 – 165p/kg. The heavier lambs were in shorter supply traded around £77 - £80 topping at £85 for 61kg from Mr L Howes.
