Student Government Minutes for the Meeting of April 3, 2008
The meeting on April 3, 2008 was called to order by President Kelley Bronson. The roll was taken by
Secretary Jessica Balsei.
Old Business


Treasurer Phillip Nuce announced that the women’s softball game is on Saturday, April 5 at 1pm.
Volunteers: Ankeeta Singh, Greg Swiger, and Heather Yoder.
Treasurer Phillip Nice reminded that the triathlon is on Saturday, April 12 at 9am. Volunteers
need to be there by 8am. Volunteers are Jennifer Utt, Ankeeta Singh, Janaye Roy, Nikki Stanley,
Michael Wayman, and Heather Yoder.
New Business











President Bradley and President Montgomery came to discuss House Bill #3215: Separation of
Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community and Technical College. President Bradley
claimed the bill has no direct impact on students and there is no governing board for the
community college yet. President Montgomery claimed this is to benefit the students and should
be invisible to the student body.
Treasurer Phillip Nuce announced that Comedy Night will be on Tuesday, April 15 at 8pm in
Colebank Gym. This should last for 1.5 hours with two comedians. Acts are being reviewed at
this time.
Secretary Jessica Balsei discussed the attendance policy. It is mandatory to attend all meetings
unless a written excuse is sent/given to her.
Secretary Jessica Balsei discussed office hours and passed around the time sheet for members
to sign up.
Secretary Jessica Balsei announced that BSU Movie Night is on Tuesday and Wednesday, April
8 and 9 at 8pm in MMA of the Library. The movie being shown is Freedom Writers.
Vice President Nikki Stanley signed up volunteers to work the blood drive signup on Wednesday,
April 9 on Main Street. Volunteers for 10am-Alyson Wareing and Ankeeta Singh. Kelley Bronson
volunteered for 12pm and Courtney Young volunteered for 1pm.
Vice President Nikki Stanley took volunteers to work the blood drive on Wednesday, April 16 in
Colebank. Volunteers at 11am are Jennifer Utt and Shawn Ragsdale. Joyce Blair volunteered
for 1pm and Ankeeta Singh volunteered for 4pm. The event runs from 12pm-5pm.
Vice President Nikki Stanley announced that voter registration will be Monday-Wednesday, April
14-16 from 10am-2pm.
President Kelley Bronson announced that Cat on a Hot Tin Roof will be Monday, April 7 at 7pm.
Leroy Brumage volunteered and needs to be there at 6pm.
President Kelley Bronson discussed the tentative date of Spring Mini Retreat to be May 2.
President Kelley Bronson announced that we will be taking nominations for C &TC Board of
Governors position and Faculty Senate on April 17. Voting will be in-house on April 24.
Advisor’s Report

Advisor Laurie Johnston discussed the C &TC Board of Governors and Faculty Senate positions.



Advisor Laurie Johnston reminded us that a student government member is there to attend,
participate, volunteer, and attitude.

Announcements


Jennifer Utt is petitioning for the falcon center to be open longer.
Whitney Richardson announced that there will be a MS Walk on April 26. Teams can be
registered or anyone is welcome to volunteer at the event.
