Post-doctoral/PhD position in bioinformatics in the field of microbial ecology Starting date: 2008. Length: two years for post doc, full PhD. The project This project is a cooperation between Israel's police Division of Identification and Forensic Science, the Minz Laboratory (http://www.agri.gov.il/en/people/677.aspx), the Gillor Laboratory (http://web2.bgu.ac.il/ziwr/faculty/gillor/index.htm) and the Jurkevitch Laboratory (http://departments.agri.huji.ac.il/plantpath/jurkevitch). The goal of the project is to develop a forensic tool for the analysis of soil samples using bacterial communities' fingerprints. The post-doc fellow/student will be in charge of developing, applying and validating protocols for soil analysis using molecular markers, analyzing large numbers of samples, and building an adequate integrative approach for sample correlation. The post-doc will coordinate the work of students and technicians of the various groups. The research requires skills in either molecular microbial ecology, bioinformatics and/or statistical analysis.
