Strive to bring the Biewer Terrier’s natural qualities, beauty, temperament and conformation to perfection through careful breeding selection, using the ‘provisional breed standard’ as the only standard of excellence for the Biewer Terrier. 2. Continuously attempt to become more knowledgeable regarding the genetics of the Biewer Terrier, the evaluation of traits present in a breeding dog’s immediate and extended family and refrain from using dogs for breeding which, although unaffected with a specific physical or temperament defect, consistently produce afflicted offspring with different mates. Line breeding will only be permitted twice and only for specific genetic traits. 3. Breed only physically and mentally sound dogs that have been evaluated for hereditable disorders among which luxating patella and porto-systemic shunts or incorrect bite, in order to ensure the breed of only healthy dogs, free of genetic and heritable defects. 4. Register all puppies with the BTCSA, keep complete and accurate records of all litters, mating and pedigrees and not later than 4 months of date of birth provide the buyer with a certified executed Registration of Pedigree and DNA profile, unless registration materials are withheld and a written statement is provided to the new owner of when and under what conditions they will be provided, e.g. until the time of spay or neuter by the new owner is verified by a veterinarian. 5. Have all my breeding dogs micro chipped with Virbac Back Home and DNA tested in order for the BTCSA to establish a DNA profile from which breeding lines and paternity can be evaluated in order to provide only truthful representation about the sire, dam and offspring when selling or advertising any puppies and to provide full disclosure regarding any health concerns as well as to guarantee further progression toward the ideals of the original German standard. 6. Provide all persons acquiring dogs from me with appropriate documentation on dietary, immunization and inoculation requirements; also encouraging prompt qualified medical attention should they become sick or injured. 7. Undertake the task of educating and encouraging all newcomers to the world of purebred Biewer Terriers, no matter their interest: pet owner, or breeder. 8. Employ careful screening practices for potential puppy owners and maintain contact with the dogs and their owners to be able to monitor and evaluate the development of my breeding program and to remain available for advice and mentoring. 9. Provide my clients with a BTCSA approved written purchase agreement for all puppy sales and stud services. 10. Provide the Committee of the BTCSA with a motivational statement of intent to rectify a specific breeding problem. 11. Actively promote quality and integrity in breeding programs, thereby making it of paramount importance to protect and improve the original German standard, heritage, quality, temperament and welfare of the breed. 12. Refrain from breeding a Biewer Terrier to any breed other than a purebred and registered Biewer Terrier and from providing stud services to any female dog other than a purebred and registered Biewer Terrier. 13. No Biewer Terrier female may be used in a breeding program under the age of 13 months. No exceptionally small Biewer female should be bred with. 14.
