1. How frequently is the vessel manned/visited whilst trading in hurricane affected areas?
2. Who, other than the owner, has the authority to move and/or prepare the vessel for a storm?
3. Is the insured vessel in a mooring/slip with a neighbouring vessel and, if so, what is the
distance in feet between the widest beam of the insured vessel and the other vessel(s)?
4. How many lines are going to be used to secure the vessel and what is the diameter and
material of those lines?
5. Is the mooring/slip covered by a roof or building?
6. Does the mooring/slip have overhead power lines?
7. Will the vessel ever be hauled and blocked ashore during hurricane season?
8. If the vessel will be ashore will all the stands supporting the vessel chained together?
9. Will all canvas/biminis/cushions/outriggers/valuables (including valuable equipment that
may be reasonably be removed from the vessel) be removed?
10. What arrangements have been made for the safety of the vessel in the event that a named
storm warming is issued?
11. If the vessel is to be moved to a hurricane hole, what is the travel time by water & if there
are any bridges will they open prior to the hurricane?
12. What are your alternative plans if the above plan becomes unlikely?
13. Will preventers be installed at the top of the pilings so lines cannot slip off the top?
14. What is the height of the pilings above the water level at spring high tide?
15. Have you ever had to prepare for a storm before?
