- suspend assisting membership of the Faculty of Geology, Geophysics, and Environmental
Protection, AGH University of Science and Technology,Kraków, which did not fulfill its membership
duties;
- organize the 4th Meeting of the Central European Tectonic Studies Group in Zakopane, 22-25 April,
2006
D. Scientific Activity
2
Scientific activity of the Association consisted in organization of a scientific conference and paper
presentations.
1.
Meeting of the Central European Tectonic Studies Group
The second meeting of the Central European Tectonic Studies Group (CETG) took place in Lučenec,
SE Slovakia, in April 22-25, 2004. The Galicia Tectonic Group Association has been affiliated at
CETG since the very beginning of the latter, i.e. 2003. The Conference was organised by the Slovak
Geological Society, Czech Tectonic Studies Group, Galicia Tectonic Group, and Geological Society of
Hungary. The meeting was attended by some 120 people from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland,
and Slovakia. Members of the GTG presented 6 papers at a separate session, chaired by E. Márton.
This session was devoted to palaeomagnetism of the ALCAPA block, exhumation of the Tertiary
accretionary prism of the Outer Carpathians, tectonic deformations of the Late Neogene molasses of
the Carpathian Foredeep in Poland (Witów Series), geochronology and geochemistry of the Early
Variscan orogen in the Bohemian Massif, as well as Quaternary evolution of the Sudetic Marginal
Fault. A full account of the meeting was published in “Przegląd Geologiczny”, vol. 53: 14, 2005.
2.
Paper presentations (bearing GTG affiliation):
May 2004 - Conference-Workshop "Geodynamics of Central Europe", 15-20 May 2004,
Zakopane/Tatra Mountains, Poland: W. Zuchiewicz “Neotectonics of the Polish Outer Carpathians”
May 2004 – meeting of the Wrocław Branch of the Polish Geological Society (Wrocław): J. Badura, W.
Zuchiewicz, J. Farbisz, B. Przybylski, T. Dobosz, W. Sroka & A. Górecki “The Sudetic Marginal Fault
in the light of geological, geophysical and morphometric studies”
October 2004 – Conference on Geographic Information Systems In Earth Science (Faculty of
Geology, University of Warsaw, Warsaw Branch of the Polish Geological Society, Warsaw): J. Badura,
W. Zuchiewicz & B. Przybylski “The Sudetic Marginal Fault on a digital elevation model”

faults in Poland: a review”
E. Scientific Cooperation
During 2004, the GTG was cooperating with the Central European Tectonic Studies Group, as well as
with workers of the Institute of Geophysics (Polish Academy of Sciences), Polish Geological Institute,
Eötvös Loránd Geophysical Institute of Hungary, Institute of Geological Sciences (Hanoi, Vietnam),
and Department of Geology and Mines, Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts (Vientiane, Laos).
F. Other activities
GTG is co-organizer of exposition "Cracow - Landscape before disaster?". The exposition, opened on
20 April in Geological Museum of Institute of Geological Sciences (Polish Academy of Sciences) in
Cracow, evaluates seismic risk for the Cracow region.
