ST. PAUL
GREENWICH
BE PATIENT, then, brothers and
sisters, until the Lord’s coming.
See how the farmer waits for the
land to yield its valuable crop,
patiently waiting for the autumn
and spring rains. You too, be
patient and stand firm, because
the Lord’s coming is near.
Don’t
grumble
against
one
another, brothers and sisters, or
you will be judged. The Judge
is
standing
at
the
door!
Brothers and sisters, as an
example of patience in the face
of suffering, take the prophets
who spoke in the name of the
Lord.
-James 5:7-10

From Del Manlapig
FROM THE DIOCESE, PASTORAL SVCS.: Christians make themselves more aware of waiting during the Advent Season. We
wait for Christ’s coming into our lives. Hope for salvation is an
integral part of the Christian lifestyle. In Jesus, God shows us
his real face – a concerned father and friend. With our doubts,
problems, and anxieties, we should turn to the Lord. Immersed
in the Holy Spirit, we should come to new life! Christmas can
be a new start for us. We will wait in joyful hope for the Lord!
WREATH SALE ENDING: Our St. Paul Boy Scout Troop 35 will
be here one more weekend (Dec. 14-15) at the church entrances selling fully-decorated Christmas wreaths for $20 each
before and after all Masses. Your purchases of these festive,
pretty wreaths will support the Troop and their activities!
ADVENT MEDITATIONS PAMPLETS are available to you on the
tables at the church entrances. Please take one home to share
with your family to help make this Advent Season meaningful.
FATHER DENNIS M. CORRADO RETURNS
TO ST. PAUL FOR ADVENT MISSION:
We are delighted to announce Fr. Dennis
M. Corrado will return to St. Paul for a
special Advent mission on Mon., Dec. 16,
Tues., Dec. 17, and Wed., Dec. 18 at 7:30
p.m. Join us for: The Pope’s Blueprint:
Living the Corporal and Spiritual Works
of Mercy. The upcoming Advent mission
will focus on the different ways one can incorporate The Works
of Mercy into our daily lives. In 2009, a Lenten mission led by
THIRD SUNDAY OF ADVENT
Fr. Corrado was especially well-received, and the parish is delighted to welcome him once again. Fr. Corrado has preached
in more than 15 states and foreign countries, and the New York
Daily News has referred to him as “One of the religious leaders
of New York for the 21st Century.” Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
LEANING ON DIVINE KINDNESS
The Lord protects strangers; the fatherless
and the widow he sustains…
- Psalm 146:9
For those of us who have not experienced being a refugee in a foreign land, an orphan or a widow in a financially desperate situation, these words might not impact us in the way
they do someone who has struggled to stay alive amid ongoing
deprivation. I thought of this recently as I listened to an immigrant describe her journey from a destitute life to eventual U.S.
citizenship. Her description of the tearful farewell to family
members, the utter terror of possible attack or death when
leaving her country, the challenge of learning English, all helped
me realize how she could understand Psalm 146:9 as a reality.
As we reflect on God’s entrance into our lives this Advent, let us ask ourselves how we understand and accept the
psalmist’s message for our own life. When have we leaned
heavily on divine kindness and strength? When have we last
said “thank you” for God’s sustaining care?
